With the exception of that belt buckle guard . . . those bikes are precisely the way they left the factory. The S1 has had NONE of the 7 recalls that would impact it. That is a museum piece. That's like finding, in my book, a '63 Split Window for $15,000. |

you should take the motor and front end/ wheels out of it and put it in a redneck frame. then part the rest of it on ebay. |

You did great . . . I'd like to get a few details for my personal reference. It looks like some things on the S2 have been changed and I'm particularly interested in a couple details. Your photos are really good and really helpful. Mike will be able to stage the bike a bit and capture some good archival stuff. The bike is close enough to stock to be useful in that regard. He'll also, by the way, be doing the same for the S1. The S1 is particularly unique is that it has not had any of the 7 recalls done and is, in each and every detail, precisely as it left East Troy. I'm going to help Mike capture all the history, all the documents and correspondence to and from NHTSA regarding the recalls, perhaps some of the design drawings and the S1 will stay precisely "as is". It, as Reg Kittrelle once observed, may be the Buell that offers the most potential for long term capital appreciation. The S1 represented a sea change in motorcycling. |

Court If there is any documentation or signature series available for the S2 that is not provided at sale, is there any chance of acquiring some? Mike |

Absolutely . . I'll keep my eyes open and I also frequently see stuff like manuals and so forth popping up on e-bay for very low prices. If you haven't ridden and S2 you are in for a treat. |

I haven't yet. I have a 2010 12R and a S1W, both are keepers and not going anywhere. |

I'd also love to find signature stuff for my 95 s2. I have been looking for years to no avail. I've got an extra parts manual for the s2 if you need it. I may have a workshop manual as well if your interested. |

The S2 is an outstanding machine. I've been spending some much-missed quality time on mine lately since the Uly is marooned in Florida...and I definitely need to spend more time on that motorcycle. Truly amazing that a bike that's 16 years old can perform as well as it does. Sure, it's down on HP compared to my CR...but it is just as competent a performer, even if it does have a slightly smaller performance envelope. I'm jealous of that S1, too. Looks even better than my S1W did when I bought it in '06, with 1,100 miles on it.
That's a just-after-purchased pic; it's since gotten a full Buell race exhaust, a recall tank (paint bubbles), a correct rear hugger with plate mount, and has the stock riser bars back on it. Still has the Penske and the stabilizer, though:
I'm so glad a couple of real collector bikes (*important* motorcycles) are going to people who will care for and protect them. But please, guys...RIDE THEM. It'd be a shame to bubble-wrap them in a warehouse somewhere....they want to play If anyone would like copies (watermarked "copy", to protect the originals out there) of any Signature Series stuff for an S2, let me know. I'll be happy to forward some, I have the full set for my bike. |

1998-BUELL-S1-WHITE-LIGHTNING on eBay, 16k, BIN $3,200, Norfolk, VA region It was also listed on CL with a lower price tag. Not mine.... tempting...., but think I'll hold out for the elusive yellow '96, small tank, solo seat, PM wheels and silver frame.... To me, that's the "Hemi 'cuda convertible" of Buells |
