I guess I should provide an update. Went to the Doctors today. Good news is I am gaining weight, my emotions are coming down to normal, the meds are not destroying my liver, my thyroid levels are coming down, I can use a screwdriver, type etc without my hands shacking too much and my blood pressure is normal. The Bad news... I am gaining weight too quickly (26 pounds in a matter of six weeks), my levels are not really perfect yet and I have more test and more drugs to take (about 18 months worth). The weight gain thing is easy, Lynn has been feeding me a lot of food and even though I started gaining and started getting back to normal I still have the six full meal a day appetite. I start watching my diet today. Looks like I will be on these drugs for a while. No big deal and it is easy to deal with. I have cut down on my smoking a lot. From a pack a day to 1/3 a pack a day. Sometimes more, sometimes less. Quitting is the ultimate goal of course. I am thinking about a trip to AZ to meet up with Bart and Deb for their annual Springfast ride. It is 600 miles so if I can do that in a day I should be ok to ride to MI. I have not been on a bike much. Only recently (last three weeks or so) have a felt like doing anything. And I had a lot to get caught up on, a tree that fell last spring needed cutting up, check; bike needed a new battery, check; new garbage disposal, check; new facet, check; fixing some walls and getting the garage organized, check.... etc etc. Today I framed a couple of pics to include the Buell History poster that I got from Court. That is a good thing to see on the wall. The people at work say I look a lot better (I guess the boss was pretty worried since their were three of us in the hospital at one time LOL). I need to go get Lynn at the Airport in a few hours (this time has been stressful on her so I sent her to FL to spend some time with her parents). Our furry children will be glad to see her as will I. Thanks everyone for their support. Graves' Disease is no joke but I am coming around to"better living through chemicals" as a way of life. That is good news Frank. Try putting your smokes in a safe or a lockbox, then only take out one at a time. It will make you much more aware. Shane |

Great news Frank!!!.....a big plus one on the not smoking.........(I quite a few years ago...........not easy, but once you are off them for just a few days, it starts to fall into place).......I REALLY hated a 10 cent cigarette "telling" me what to do. Ride safe.........Jack |

If Jack had ten cent ciggies telling him what to do, it was a couple of years ago. Good to hear you're on the road to recovery, Frank. Get on top of that smoking. Jaci and I are clean for a year and a half now. What worked for me was a few weeks on the patch then a month with H1N1. Once I recovered from the flu, I realized how much I enjoyed breathing and didn't need the patch anymore. Illness can be good for you. |

Hi Frank, I am 60 years old. I have been out of touch with anybody on the forum for the past few years. I do not know much about Graves illness, but I hope you the best. I will pray for you. Get back on that bike as soon as you can. My S1 has carried me through two nasty bouts of cancer and an heart attack. I don't know what it is, but there is life and hope rumbling through those handlebars. Sincerely, Frank |

Agreed, Jack strikes me as a free spirit... As most S2 riders do. |
