Well, the bezel is $43 new. I'd continue to look on ebay for a full headlight assembly as the old style headlight assembly (which you have) doesnt seem to be available and the new style is $170. The lamp, etc. may also be available that fits from another Buell (or Jap make). Try contacting the people on ebay who seem to be selling a lot of parts. Usually, they'll list the item you want, sometimes with a "buy it now". But dont ask them to just sell it too you, thats against ebay rules!. Seriously, I've dealt with a few of them over the years and they are good people and will be fair. |

Contact fellow Badwebber "Rharms". He rarely posts here, but I know he has parted out quite a few Blasts on ebay. (I've bought his parts-LOL!) http://www.badweatherbikers.com/cgibin/discus/boar d-profile.cgi?action=view_profile&profile=rharms1 |

Thanks for the info... I did find an e-bay auction for a headlight assembly (except I don't think it includes the bezel). I will try contacting Rharms. |

Well, I'm looking for a stock headlight assembly (the ones I'm finding are really expensive and I haven't been able to afford one since my accident) but I was wondering if anyone might have a suggestion about another headlight that might work on my bike (if it requires some modification I can probably handle it myself, but I'm still a novice on motorcycle maintenance and repair) |

There are alot of choices, but you want to be very careful to make sure that the light is DOT certified, otherwise you may get a light that is not able to light up the road in the daytime, negative lumens! Check in the knowledge vault for what others have done, there are alot of examples. |

Many, many older (non-Harley) motorcycles and a few Buells use the traditional round headlight held on by two brackets on the side going to the forks. They are very standard (or universal) and use the same three wire plug found on the Blast (just like old two headlight cars). Just about any motorcycle salvage yard will have one sitting around. Dont pay a lot! If you havent already done so, SAVE the wiring from your broken Blast headlight bucket. An example: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1977-honda-cb550-cb -550-headlight-bucket-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem 35a295a78bQQitemZ230360983435QQptZMotorcyclesQ5fPa rtsQ5fAccessories#ht_653wt_941 Ask if the bulb works, high and low beam. If new (as previously written) make sure its DOT (if you care). Unfortunately a very brief ebay search didnt turn up any bargains. |

Hello, I think this is the right place to post this, I have a stock exhaust that I am willing to give someone who will pay to have it shipped, or pick it up. I live in San Diego. Also on a side note I want to surpise my wife with bigger heads, but the engine forum is too technically complicated for me to understand. If anyone can help explaine it in laymens terms I would be really appricitive. |

Well, there arent any "bigger" heads available for the Blast. Better yes. Since I'm not sure how to explain what you want to know, I'll just ask some questions first: What have you done so far? What do you want to gain? How much do you want to spend? Will you be doing the work yourself? |

I am teaching my 71 yr old father how to ride a motorcycle so I picked up a 2001 Blast to commute to work and teach the old man. On my 2nd day of teaching he hit a patch of sand in the lot we were using and went down hard on the left side breaking his ankle. Can anyone help a fellow Buell owner with some parts? LF headlight bracket; buell traction grip turn signal and foot peg; and lastly headlight assm. I took the above advice and pm'd rharms. Please send me an email to prichmon74 @@@@yahoo....Co,o,m Thanks all |

Blast with electrical issues... After a ride of about 200 miles, I parked my bike overnight. I packed my gear onto the bike the following morning and it would not start. Slight spark, (no lights, neutral lights very dim) but it acted as if the battery were dead. I had friends push me and she started right up, no problems. The night before, my low beam stopped working, but the high was fine and all of the other functions of the bike were normal. I rode the bike for about 5 miles, and shut it off to gas up. I had assumed that would have been enough to charge the battery a bit. Unfortunately, the bike did not start again – this time, no sign of life at all. I had someone push start me again and the bike started right up, no problems. I rode the 200 mile back home, turned off the bike and it was dead as a doornail again. After unpacking the bike, I spent some time looking and feeling around to see if there might be some loose connections or a bad ground. As I flipped the kill switch off and on, I noticed a slight buzzing from under the seat. It was coming from one or the relay plugs to the left front of the battery. The noise was the same that was coming from the flasher relay when I had a short in the rear turn signals. I have checked the battery and it is fully charged. The gauge light come on (barely) if the kill switch is off. If the kill switch is on, the lights go off completely. If the kill switch is off (the ignition is in the on position) the dash lights are on but very dim. The bike will push start only. Any advice would be appreciated – thanks! |

Could you cut and paste your question to here: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/201 64/150578.html?1314211308 Thats the proper place, you might not get much help in this section (and I cant move posts right now). I'd really check the battery and ground cables out. Sounds like you've got juice to run, but not to start. Thats typical of a major cable problem, so start there. There is a ground at the front engine mount that seems to come loose often. |

@Saturn66: If you can't find an OEM part take a look @ the GIVI website. Many of these will fit the Blast with a little work. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/201 64/585566.jpg This isn't mine but it has the same screen as mine does. Chris C |

Thanks Britchri10....am I right to assume that this is a Givi shield or is it an OEM? What style number is this? I want one similar to this, not the super tall one or the short one. This looks about the right size. |

It's not OEM. It's manufactured by Givi. Mine is an A755 screen. You will need to cut your headlight brackets in order to fit it to the Blast. Not a big deal. Hopefully this will take you to the relevant site. If it doesn't try cut & paste http://www.giviusa.com/Screens--spoilers/ Chris C |

Thanks Chris - I found another site at cli-maxriding gear with pretty good prices. I like the A750 better...and this site is in English! When you say I will have to cut the headlight brackets what does this entail? I am not a "mechanic" but am pretty competent at small jobs. Don't want to get in over my head! |

The brackets that hold the small flyscreen and headlight need to be "trimmed" (At least mine did) in order to fit the fairing to the Blast. Once you look at them w/the fairing it'll make sense. It's easy. Only a hacksaw job and takes about 10 minutes. |

Free tires! Yeah, I'll probably catch a bit of crap for this... A 1,200 mile set of Dunlops ( still have most of the 'nubbins' on them) that just came off the recently purchased '05. I was young and strapped for cash once... free tires (even if they sucked) would have been better than bald ones! I often gratefully took used tires from someones race bike. Pick up in Levittown (Long Island) NY or meet me on my way to Peru Vermont on October 8th. Headed by way of Brookfield CT, then Taconic and roads along the Hudson. Willing to strap 'em on and meet someplace along the way... or even deposit them someplace they can be picked up later. I hate the idea of a decent set of tires going to the landfill! |
