Does anyone have any experience on the 1125 models with a Special Ops heat barrier? My CR really cooks my man pieces. Will this help? | ||

I used the ThermoTec product, available from American Sport Bike. It helps "a little," noticeable in moderate temperatures, but not so much when it gets over 100 outside. Al at American Sport Bike suggested at the time that for maximum protection, he would recommend the heat barrier, a "grip skin" type product for outside the frame, and ceramic coating for the headers. | ||

The product you linked is not the same type as what I am referring to. I am referring to a simple "blanket" that goes under the seat to block heat, NOT a frame insulation product. ac | ||

Avc8130 is the bike bone stock?. Interesting would be to do some research how to get the heat down without the Special Ops heat barrier keep that one on the list but first check the normal things. - air leak - running full syntetic oil (check level) - use watter wetter with coolant (check level) - ECM stock or tuned, get a tune get's the heat down Just wanne help (-: | ||

Easy, You and I have been on MANY threads about how much the 09 cooks. My 09 is "stock" but it has an Erik Buell Racing ecm. Oil is 20/50 Syn3 since it is still under warranty and I need NO issues. Coolant has water wetter, but I am in a freezing environment so I need to keep antifreeze in there also. No air leaks, the bike runs great and I have gone nuts with starting fluid checking. My 08 is the exact same config and it runs great, and is MUCH cooler to the rider. I was looking at the special ops as an easy and quick addition to try. You don't have to rotate the motor or do anything crazy. Just pull the seat and lay it on. ac | ||

sjips, that is through, sorry for that buy a set of 2008 injectors, reflash the ecm with your 2008 VIN number, then get a tune for the 2008 problem, build injectors and 2008 flashed ecm in your 2009 and gone is the problem gone (-: | ||

Choise of type of injector, was not a good one I swapped the same setup for a customer, (2008 injectors and ecm flash in a 2009 bike) after not having a good reason and it worked perfect, the way the 2009 injectors spray Compared to the 2008 are different and, the angle they spray is different and this is generating more heat. Easy, Is swapping the injectors easy? Maybe I will swap my 08 and 09 and see if the heat issue transfers to the 08 and disappears from the 09. ac | ||

I have the Spec Ops "Maximum" blankets on my Ulysses. Steve McElhenny (aka Maximum on BWB) designed them, he's a local friend/customer, super nice guy. Anyway, the blankets must work as I have zero heat complaints even in July-August. I'll have to pull them off sometime and see what the difference is, they were on when I bought the bike. Zack | ||

I always thought the 09 injectors were an upgrade to the 08 version, but then I also thought the 09 electrical system was an upgrade too. | ||

Easy or Xopti, Can I swap injectors with the motors still in the bikes? The front looks tight with the frame from the pics in the manual. I don't see "rotate" or "remove TBs" in the steps though. ac | ||

Anthony, yes, it's about a 30 minute job to swap them out. Pull off the airbox cover, then the inner airbox. Don't break the fuel line rail tab at the back of the airbox though, it's easy to miss so make sure you look for it. Take off the lower airbox plate and rubber boot around the throttle bodies. Disconnect the wires at the top of the injector. I think the injector was retained by a T-30 bolt, one on each injector. Clean the area around the injector PRIOR to removal. Get any goo/dirt/gunk off them. Pull the injectors, then put the new one back in. I'd put a very small amount (just a tiny dab on your finger) of oil on the oring to make it go in easier. You might also want to carefully clean the injectors before you reinstall them. I did mine on the parking lot at Alpine valley last year at homecoming. Not a tough job at all. No, I have 09 injectors in my 08. No noticeable change for heat. Seems a little smoother to me, but that's just me. Mine really only got hot on 100+ degree days. Off the top of my head, average temp while rolling at 70 mph, maybe 175-180 degrees. Sitting at a light, I think I've seen it hit maybe 192 or 194? Mine's never really run "hot" like some guys complain about though. Sure, it's warm in the summer, but I expect it to be where I'm at. | ||

I have considered fitting a fan from an XB (because you can pick them up second hand) into the undertray to vent the heat out under the seat - never got round to it as I'm unsure of how long the fan will last from road spray when it rains - does anybody know how "weatherproof" these fans are ? I would have thought that a 1125 radiator fan would be more weatherproof as they are in a more exposed position - but I don't see them come up for sale - bearing in mind that I'm in the UK.
