I took the day off on this cold but sunny, February day and rode the 1125R to the desert. There was snow in the higher elevations and plenty of run off. I managed to avoid snow but not the run off. I did make it to the desert mountain roads in time for the warmer (but still cold) mid-day sun. It looks dry around these parts, but just 5 miles back as I crossed over the higher elevations it was all white from snow. Luckily, the road was clear and mostly dry. On my way to this forested picnic area, I caught up behind not one, but two Sheriff's patrol. They were both moving at 55! DOH! So I pulled over for a photo-of. However, the one road that lead to this forested area had a "stream" flowing in the middle road from the previous heavy rain and snow, which I had to cross....twice. Damn! Pic didn't even come out as nice as I wanted!

Nice. Reminds me of I-10 westbound just inside of Arizona where there's these huge boulders in like a 'boulder park.' Can't remember the name of the place but there's an exit for a 'Dragoon' something or another just past it. Really cool stuff. Always slow down and take it in. Don't get much of that around Houston. |

Actually on my way back home I had to take the long way right near the Mexican border. I just didn't feel like going through all the run off and cccccoold mountains. The bike got covered in crap from other vehicles passing over some run off flowing down from the higher elevations! Amazingly enough, only my helmet got covered. All the rest of me was protected by Buell's Quiet Zone. Yeah! The 1125R rocks! Oh yes! I did wash her and shined up her wheels again like all the dirt and grime never happened! LOL! |
