Ok I did a search and found some threads, and a few have pics, but still am not 100% on where and why as far as the safety tie goes - anyone have a close up of theirs done? |

I don't have a pic, but have done it. Where will be evident if you open the butterflies and find the place in the linkage that separates when you open one and close the other. The why is to prevent the possibility of the butterflies not opening/closing in unison. To my knowledge it has never happened, but an ounce of prevention and all that . . . |

They will always open together, but do to the incoming air not flowing smoothly (never do in a bike engine), the rear butterfly "could" flutter (open/close a small amount at any given time). As noted above, I don't have any pictures but just open the throttle and watch the linkage on the left side, rear cylinder. A small "tang" overhangs and rests on another part of the linkage. Tie those together. As bad is the "search" function is here, you should be able to find a shot or two. Mike |

Ok I got it. That's where I thought. Didn't know the air could possibly affect it. Better safe than sorry I guess. Thanks guys. |

Pretty sure that the big jaggies near red-line on some dyno runs is from butterfly-flutter. Loretta has been de-noided/tied for 3 years now, never any jaggies on 3 or 4 dyno runs. Z |
