I managed to fit the Lightning footpegs on my 1125R. The left one went right in with no issues. There was a small amount of rubbing against the rearset but it went on with no issues. The right peg however would not go on straight because the rear of the footpeg bracket butted up against a raised portion of the right rearset. So now the footpeg is slightly crooked. I only have to remove a little off the right footpeg to get it to sit correctly. I have never had to “grind” metal down so I’m clueless. Question: How do I grind this small portion of the right footpeg down? Can I use a heavy duty drill with a proper grinding tip? If so, is that called? Sorry for the stupid questions. Thanks for the help. |

I'm having trouble picturing what you are talking about but a simple metal file should work. |

Be careful.... Take a little bit at a time.... I just ruined a set of LSL brackets I was putting on my 1125. I will use a file next time. I used a dremel this past time. $40 lesson. |

Use a file. The footpegs are aluminium and will file down really easy. Thats what I did |

I used a hand dremel, and whatever you do, like said above, go slow, it doesn't take much & it files down easily, 2 minutes & you'll be ready to go. |

I used a bench grinder, but I have the billet ones off ebay and those jokers are hard as rocks! |

Kevyn, what brackets are you talking about? I'll bet I could fix them. |

Just use Ulysses pegs. Thicker, have the same 1" drop, and no filing required... |

I just finished grinding down about 1/4" off of the right peg and about 1/16" off of the left one just to get rid of the slight resistance to settle in. Used an ordinary hand file designed for wood, soft metal, etc. Worked GREAT!!! Thanks all. I've seen the Uly pegs. Too big! I did consider it after seeing the pics and reading people's comments, but the Lightning pegs worked so well on my Firebolt and I wanted to stay with something familiar to me. |
