Keeps the rear wheel turning by slipping because the rear wheel is trying to drive the engine. |

I thought the slipper clutch came about because as the braking effect of motorcycles kept improving riders would lock up the rear wheel with panic downshifting going into corners. I've also read that Danny Eslick intentionally rides without one, but that may just be rumor. |
