I've only got one bike (that moves), but all of the two up riding Heather and I have been doing in the last year has been absolute murder on tires... We've got a local place that will do them for $25 a pop, but buy tires from them and they are not at all competitive and I had one that was done at a stealership for damn near $200 just for labor, so I'd pay for a changer in no time at all. Think a set of Michelin PR2s is going to be the next set of rubber... I've been working WAY too much over the past 3 or 4 months, so really looking forward to getting out and riding with you all! |

What, your vise and your paint bucket isn't good enough for you? The neighbor, a buddy, and I went in on a harbor freight setup, and I welded a mount that puts it in the trailer hitch of his F150. Lots of bikes between the three of us, we use the heck out of it. Mounting the thing to something solid is the hardest part... |

That method still works quite well, but isn't the cleanest or easiest to do. It looks like HF discontinued their motorcycle wheel attachment for that tire changer, so that might not be an option anymore. hmm... Maybe I just need to buy a welder and use the machine shop to make my own! |

I'm trying to remember... I think we have that attachment, and never use it. Just the bead breaker and clamping part with a couple guys and spoons. |

Wheeled the xb out early this morning for a nc inspection, barely turned over, but it did fire up. It's been several weeks since I've ridden it. Damn POS charger...I guess I'll try a tender jr. this time. Bit chilly this morning, but got in a nice ride to charge it up. All is good. 'Bout time for some mountain grass! Hey U4, found some eyeballs at the local ABC. Man, that stuff is potent! Crap! All is NOT good. Bike still hesitates to turn over and fire, and the clock is resetting to 1:00. Fellow Carolina folks, I need some help on a part, need it asap I have a tuber model with the boomerang shifter I need the piece that comes off of the shifter shaft (I guess thats what the part is called) Its a vertical part that connects to the horizontal shaft that runs to the boomerang. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/11-5-1999-2002-Buel l-X1-boomerang-shifter-assembly-NICE-/280625324759 The short piece on the left of this picture Does ANYONE in the area have one of these they wouldnt mind parting ways with? Its for my race bike, I got an idea tonight to fix my shifter problems, but I want to have an extra one of these just in case it doesnt fit. Am hoping for a local person so it ships quickly and I can get to work on this part Please PM me if you can help at all |

Hi C3, What's happening? Sure is a cool ass new Buell coming out! I'd like to give it a whirl! I'll be working the BMW Performance Center booth at the IMS in Greenville, SC this Saturday. I'll also be working the BMW demos in Daytona, March 9,10,11. Catching the flat track races Thur/Fri nights and RR on Saturday. I'm riding the GSA down on Tuesday evening and back on Sunday. Please stop by if you're at either/both events. Catching up ... I've been doing a variety of riding lately. Riding a wicked YZ250 in the dirt, trying to get three flat track bikes going to give that a swing, The HP2 project continues and it's at GMD Computract right now making sure everything is nice and straight; and, the big GSA just keeps on rocking at everything. I'm touring it up the mid-atlantic coastal route to Southern NJ in April and then doing a 300 mile off-road tour (The Pine Barrens 300). Should be fun Oh yeah ... working in a wicked dirt road course in the backyard that's really fun with Xr/Crf100's. It's a blast and great skills training. C'mon down and get you sum. Hope all are well and happy. Mike. (Message edited by rubberdown on February 24, 2011) |

Sad news.... just saw on T.W.O's facebook page they are shutting down. "We Regret to inform you that Two Wheels Only will cease operation on March 15th 2011 We'd like to thank all of you who supported this establishment and the local community for the last 29 years. It's been a fun ride!" |

Just curious. Has any Uly owner ever put "dual sport" or knobbies on their X? That would be a sight. A Uly doing URE. |

Prior - pleasure meeting you the other day! Thank you so much for your help/parts. Unfortunately I cant use the piece I was wanting to use, if you want you can have it back (the short piece). I was hoping to get somethng welded to it, it wont work due to being pot metal. I know nothing of fabrication/welding, but apparently it doesnt weld well. Definately looking forward to having another to ride with in the area. Rubberdown - damnit, I forgot all about the expo this weekend. I wish I'd have read this section earlier I couldve rolled down this morning. |

Garrett, Was great to meet you as well- did not know you were going to try to weld on that. Definitely going to have a difficult time doing that. Would be very easy to replicate the overall shape with a solid chunk of steel, but broaching the inside to match the shifter shaft spline would be another headache all together. You might be able to get enough clamp load on the shaft using a split design like is already there and a set screw of some sort. I'll get that part from you at some point when we go riding, otherwise please pass it along to another Bueller in need. I've got a new set of PR2s sitting in the garage ready to go on the Uly, just trying to decide if I'm going to go the spoon route or get off my ass and buy a tire changer. Lots of parts for sale in the classifieds, selling most of those would definitley sway my decision... |

No problem Alex Actually, due to the issues with welding on it, I've went a different direction. I've ditched all of the linkage, have improvised a 'shifter' on the small 3" vertical piece. I've just put a 4.5" bolt through the pieces and used some fuel line over it. Its different, I have to bump it into gear with my calf or shin, but Im hoping this solves all of my air-shifter problems. I'll know Friday night if weather in Orlando holds out. |

Welcome back to NC I can spare you the trouble of looking in Chapel Hill; things are ridiculously expensive over there. Durham and Hillsboro are good places to find less expensive living. |

gents, looking for someone who can tune my '08 xb12r with micron exhaust, k&n, and Erik Buell Racing programmable ECM. I am from the Columbia area, and there seems to not be any people willing to try it. Any thoughts? I have tried Tilly and Low COuntry HD already... Thanks! ~Ryan |

I did. My twin sis, Abby, came to town as a surprise and my folks also came down from PA. Friday we just chilled at the house, had a few beers and pizza. Saturday we bummed around town and then went out to dinner and was surprised by a group of local friends there. All in all, a good weekend, even with no riding, and it was great to finally spend another birthday with Abby- it's been 12 years since we've celebrated one together. 30 doesn't seem that old... yet! I have my Cycle Hill tire changer showing up at the house today so I can get some new shoes on the Uly! |
