Is there a way to eliminate the tip sensor that is located under the left pod by the ECU???? I have been mocking up the flexiglass fairings that i have. just trying to eliminate some of the bracketry that needs to be made... is there a way??? | ||

I suppose if your ECM no longer looked for the input from the sensor then it could be eliminated but the Tip Sensor is a safety aid as you probably know already to shut the engine down if you drop the bike (Message edited by Dirty_john on February 23, 2011) | ||

ecmspy or tunerpro will allow you to turn the function off and allow you to unplug it | ||

assuming its just an open/close switch you could wire the two ends together. not the "correct"way but it would work. | ||

the one on my xb had four wires (if i remember right).. i ended up mounting it on the fairing stay since it used to mount to the headlight bracket which i removed for racing. i'm glad i had it still when i crashed & my bike shut off lol | ||

The first batch of Erik Buell Racing ECMs actually needed the BAS to be disconnected, then they moved the functionality to the siestand switch. You could always send your back to have it reconfigured that way.. I know it'll cost $50 but it saves you bodging anything.. Or you could mail them and ask them the pinouts to disconnect... | ||

Have you tried just disconnecting it? The other easy answer is an Erik Buell Racing ECM with the tipover sensor disabled. | ||

Check your race organization rules - MOST orgs require functioning tip over sensor. Think about your motor running while the bike is on its side with the oil system sucking air. You'd be amazed at how long a motor will run with the bike laid over. Admittedly, nobody is really checking in tech - but it's not a bad thing to have. |
