Got a 09 1125CR & dropped off my bike yesterday at one of the HD/Buell dealers here in town. Been having issues with cold starts/ voltage issues lately.

About three weeks ago I was stranded at the BMW dealer, good thing is that they charged my bike and I got home safely. Just wondering if the battery is under warranty. The service guy asked me a ton of questions in regards to my bike. like where I bought it, and if I had a extended service plan. My warranty does not expire till July of this yr. So I should be Ok right?

Battery is a bit of a YMMV. Sometimes it is 100% covered under the 2 year warranty, and sometimes it is only partly covered, they will prorate the repair cost based on the age of the battery. It depends on who you get writing up the bill.

ymmv?

I dont know if all will do it, but I go to an awesome dealership (crossroads in Wilkesboro NC) and they did replace my battery for free. I had taken the bike in to get the clutch resevoir on the bars fixed, the seal was leaking. While in the battery died. I got there ready to ride home, battery dead, they said instead of chargng it and waiting they'd just swap in a new battery.

Awesome people up ther

If you have to buy your own battery, seriously consider one of the new Li ones. They save a ton of weight, don't need a tender, and now plug-and-play package compatible ones are available for not a whole lot more than an OEM battery.

There's a couple of options.

A couple of years ago when I got mine, they were less widely available than now. I bought an 8-cell from Carbon Speed Racing: http://www.carbon-speed.com/prod.htm It's pricey, but served me well.

There's also the Erik Buell Racing option, which is very pricey, but also a very elegant solution: http://www.EBRacing.com/shop/product65.html

For my little motard, I just bought a Shorai Power unit. The recommendations for the Buell seem to be out-of-stock, but so far I'm happy with the much smaller unit I bought for the Aprilia. Price is definitely right! http://www.shoraipower.com/s-56542-1125-CRR.aspx

Turns out that the stator went kaputt . It was replaced under warranty.
