I'm curious if this will be a water cooled motor from S&S or will this be an air cooled motor. |

I haven't heard any talk of any motor other than the Rotax. |

Where did anybody get the impression S&S is doing any sort if motor? Someone mentioned that all S&S did was lend assistance in the government certification process but I have'nt read that anywhere either. |

Court, I think it was just that S&S was mentioned in the article and since most people think of them exclusively as engine builders, they may have made the assumption that they were involved in supplying motors. That's my guess anyway. Personally, I'm not sure why the article even mentions S&S at all. |

quote:S&S Cycles of Viola is working with Buell to develop the new street bike. "We definitely want to support him any way we can," said Scott Sjovall, S&S vice president of product development.

As much as I like an S&S I'd rather have the Rotax. |

Thought they were doing emissions work. Maybe I am wrong. |

Speculation on Badweb (and AFAIK it's all just speculation) is that S&S is doing the machine work to convert the 1125 motors to 1190's and helping with the emissions testing so the 1190RS can get EPA certification and be licensed as a street bike. The 1190RS has obviously got a Rotax engine in it. Some of us just think it would be awfully cool if Erik Buell Racing could bring out an air-cooled line in a few years, so working with S&S at least gives the possibility of that happening. |

Puzzled, I don;t think there is any chance of S&S doing motors for Buell. I think the author of that article was either confused or intentionally misleading when mentioning S&S. They may be involved but at this point, I don't think there is any information to support that they are supplying any major components for the 1190RS. The quote you posted doesn't tell us anything about what S&S are doing and without any context, the casual reader might assume that S&S is involved in the 1190 motors. |

Ratsmc - IDK. I can only imagine S&S is making 1190's out of 1125's. |

It's a local company with a reputation for quality that is likely desperate for work. Seems like you could find something for them to do. |

S&S builds the motors for NHRA ProStock "Buells" , so I would think there is an existing relationship of sorts. Of course other than a resemblance in bodywork- there isnt any "Buell" about the bikes , like 'stock car' racing..... anyway, just thinking that S&S would have a lot of knowledge about passing emissions testing - with their crate engines and whatnot... |

> what is that ? > ZTL COOLING SYSTEM??? I think so. I know the ZTL caliper in the 1190RR starts life as a regular ZTL2, but then spends time in the mill to create greater airflow for cooling, and uses different internal parts (pistons, seals, etc.) |

Doesn't S&S provide production engines to Wakan, the french motorcycle company that builds and sells those phenomenal naked sportbikes? |

Imagine some hooligan showing up at a street race with one of those S&S 3 cam 160's stuffed in a street bike. |

Sorry, I'll stick to liquid-cooled, thanks. I actually like cheap horsepower. I am really not sure WTF I posted this for, my apologies. I was just working on an air-cooled RD350 and I have been jonesing for a Uly for some time now. My apologies if anyone took offense. (Message edited by RatsMC on February 20, 2011) |
