Quick question. I need to know the overall length of an 09 XB12XT. Does anyone know off the top of their head? Also how tall is the windshield. That is the tallest point on the bike. Thanks, z (Message edited by Zane on February 15, 2011) |

My "Escalade" says RAV4 on the side...lol Seriously, I may have to transport an XT with a Uhaul trailer and don't want to rent to big a trailer. No sense paying for room I don't need and pulling any trailer with a RAV4 is a crap shoot. |

Why an enclosed trailer? You moving other items? |

Uhaul says that I can't pull a motorcycle trailer with my Rav4. Doesn't make sense to me but they have their rules I guess. Cheapest way would be to just ride it home but weather is a factor. I'm open to suggestions... |

The overall length of the XT is 91.3 inches or 7.7 feet. All you need is a 3' X 8' utility trailer. Ask uhaul what kind / size you can tow behind a Rav4. Anybody you know have a trailer? Try checking the Florida BRAN section, there are those listed that have trailers. Maybe one of them might be willing to let you use one? - You have to be signed in to view the BRAN section. Go to the top to log in. If you had the time and money I'd say go buy a harbor freight trailer, and build a floor, etc. Is shipping it out of the question? Driving 1,200 miles there a 1,200 back is going to cost at least $264 in gas alone, and that's at 30 mpg. Wish I could help more! |

Where is it coming from, and going to? If its going to Florida...I know a bunch of Buellers who will be heading to Daytona in March...some might have trailer space available? |

Zane, Don't forget local equipment rental places as options to Uhaul. Check your phone book. I have one near me that used to rent utility trailers for $30/day. (Its been a while since I've been by there so they may not anymore.) Anyway, they didn't care if you showed up on an Electraglide to pick one up, as long as the credit card would take the deposit and lights and hitch worked, they were ok with it. Just an option to consider. I know Uhaul can be particular about what you pull with. |

Nice try Gabriel, but if anybody rides it home it'll be me. If anyone is passing through the Dallas area on their way to Daytona I'd be willing to pay some cash for them to cart it to Fl for me. I can pick it up in Daytona so they wouldn't have to go out of their way on this end of the trip. Any takers? (Message edited by Zane on February 16, 2011) |

I just moved an 'X' not 'XT' using a covered U-Haul 5x8 trailer. Had plenty of room. It was behind a Chevy Blazer. No idea if they would allow a RAV-4 to tow this trailer. |

Been cranking the numbers for every option. Looks like the fly and ride is the cheapest way to go if someone doesn't have spare trailer capacity on the way to Daytona. I really had wanted to drive out with my son and take turns riding it back but I'm out of work right now and counting all my pennies. Shouldn't have bought the bike at all but I figured, screw it. I needed an XT, dang it! |

I went to a u-haul and they would not rent the open top motorcycle trailer to me, as I had a convertible. I really only needed the model one foot shorter but because I mentioned I was towing a motorcycle they would not even rent me the smaller one. I went to another u-haul about 1 mile down the road and they only had the motorcycle trailer, so that is what I rented, without any questions or comments from them regarding my convertible. Try another u-haul location. Only issue was the guy did not tighten the tongue down to the ball enough which I did a mile down the road after I realized that he did not. Someone above mention this above about the necessity of it being a closed trailer. It is going to get wet at some point in time. Plus it'll make it easier to tow without all the wood facing into the wind. And cheaper too. |

I think he wants to, its just the logistics of getting out there to get it that's getting in the way. Wish I still had 'excess' skymiles to give away...this seems like a reasonable "charity". |

No one has contacted me with extra transport capacity. Guess I'll just have to do a fly and ride... Flying Tampa to Dallas is about $150 give or take. Guess I'll just be "forced" to ride it home. |
