Although it's been less than 2 years since the end of the tube frame Buells, I've been having a difficult time getting parts. Almost everytime I've ordered something , its taken weeks (some cases months) to get. I have been getting better results from ebay than my dealer. If it's this bad now, how is it going to be in a couple more years. This may make me want to get rid of the bike soon. I do enjoy my '99 S3T, but if I constantly have to wait for anything ordered (especially a part that I need to ride it with) I may have no choice. Has anyone else had similar problems or am I just having a spree of bad luck/timing? |

Don- I've had real good luck with most stuff I've ordered from HD/Buell Cycle Center (Daves' hangout). It may be since they order so much stuff that they get the quick delivery. The only time I had to wait more than a week was my special order seat. It took 6 wks. and came after two big trips I took. |

Don, It's probably your dealers ordering habits or lack there of. I've had no problems getting M2 or even S2 parts. Brad |

A lot of parts now are vendor direct so it will take longer sometimes. |

I do not know if this applies, but I have been waiting for 2 months for CRG mirrors from sporttwin. I ordered the mirrors and other items the 16th of August. Blake from sporttwin keeps telling me they are on back order. |

So how does waiting weeks (or sometimes months) for parts make this year different than last year or the year before? There's about a half dozen dealers in the world that care enough to have parts on hand and we have always had to wait weeks or months if we went through the local dealer. You just learn to call one of good shops and have the parts mailed to you. It was that way in Y2K when my M2 was new and it was that way in '02 when I crashed it, it's that way now and doesn't look like it going to change any time soon. |

Gomo... I have ordered just about everything imaginable for my 2000 M2... from just a single cam, through transmission parts like 2nd gear pair and a countershaft, through engine sprocket nuts and crank seals... you name it. Everything from "expendable seals" through one of a kind should never wear out engine parts. When I order them from F&S Buell in dayton, on the odd case they did not have them in stock, they come in about 3 to 5 days later like clockwork. Most of the time the parts are in stock. On the one case where it was backordered from Buell (a 5th gear drive assembly that it turned out I did not need anyway) F&S gave me an apology and an offer to ship it to me direct as soon as it got in. When I order it from Tri County Harley in Cincinnati (it is never in stock... even stupid expendable stuff like the crank seal), it never gets there until I have made at least 3 calls and waited at least two weeks. They are nice enough, and kind of try, but ultimately don't deliver. When I was trying to get the goodwill shock replacement done from Eastgate Buell in Cincinnati, they swore to me that the paperwork was done, and the part was on the way while they jerked me around for three months. Then they swore the part was on the shelf, bring the bike in. Called one more time (this was like call #15 at this point) before bringing the bike in... asked them AGAIN to go look and make sure the shock was there... ummm... no. "But you told me it was on the shelf last time, I asked you to go look". They had no explanation. Then asked about the paperwork they sent to Buell... "Um. What paperwork". I called Buell customer service myself. Eastgate had not even started the process, but within 15 minutes the situation was resolved with a new shock on the way. Choice quotes from the Buell representitive "If they are telling you that, thats a cry for help". They were, and it was. Note that in this story of "the good, the bad, and the damn liars", all three dealers delt with the same Buell motor company. The one that cared had things worked things out just fine. Even the ones that did not care, worked things out just fine when sufficiently pressed from my part to MAKE them care. I'm sure there are occasional parts issues with Buell... but by and large, I would bet 99% of the problems are just apathetic dealers and poor customer service. Just like I experienced when I owned my Yamaha.

Thanks All, you've given me HOPE! Unfortunately, I know not to bring my Buell in for service at the dealer by me (their service staff seems lost with Buells), now I know to start dealing with those some of you have listed and/or others to get my parts in the future. www.tourexpo.com click on the snapshots and scroll down to bottom for King Bio - 1st Buell owner/BRAG member(and perhaps the only) to receive the Crown |
