Where does the negative terminal tie in to the frame/engine block? My bike has been hesitating at startup for a long time now... just a slight pause before turning over. Never caused an issue, just want to fix it if I can. I've already made sure the battery terminals are clamped down good, so that's not the issue.

Thanks!

mine ties in to a bracket next to the battery, but it's had a tail swap so that may not be right.
there's also a grounding strap on teh top dog bone (up under the airbox) going from frame to block.

it seems all of the 12's i've seen started have some hesitation.
one day, the guy's starter locked up, and we had to rock the bike in gear to get it un-stuck. it turned out to be a warranty issue ...

OOOooooo that would suck if it was actually the starter. I think I remember seeing that strap, now that you mention it....

Is the battery fully charged? To me it sounds like a weak battery.

My XB12Scg hesitates on startup. Did it from day 1 with both my old AGM Xtreme battery as well as my new battery (which is Champion or Endurance or something. Whatever Advance Auto Parts sells).

I'd love to find a much high CCA battery that fits... but as of now I havent' cared enough to spend the time or effort.

Nah, battery is only about a year old or so, and even fresh off the tender it will do this. Not always, but sometimes, so I really think that the charge level doesn't have anything to do with it.

I know it's not the battery cables because I have some auxiliary power wires tapped in there using the "O" connectors. No way the screws could be bottoming out before getting tight.

Cliff, I'd bet a dollar to a donut it's your battery.
Had the same problem last Summer, the problem got worse and worse until it just wouldn't start any longer.
The battery was less than two years old as well.
New battery, no problems.

Huh. It's a gel cell one I picked up from Advance, one of those you don't have to assemble yourself... maybe I should take it in for testing.

Mine was also.
Some batteries last longer than others, even of the same brand.
Besides, we just went through the coldest winter we've ever been through.
