I really do love my 2002 YELLOW BLAST! ... but the saddle (you straddle a saddle and you sit in a seat) ... is very uncomfortable ... I tend to slide forward ... downhill ... when I stop. My BLAST! has the "normal" saddle ... not the "low" style. I am 5'10" with a 30" inseam and find the regular saddle model OK for height but just not shaped right. I like the looks of the "low" saddle ... would it sit more comfortably for me ??? Anybody have another saddle to fit a BLAST! I might like ??? A Harley dealer in Indianapolis offers the "low" model for $111 .... | ||

The low saddle (seat) is kinda cramped for someone over 5'8". I have a low saddle (seat) on my (off the road for an indefinite period) Blast. I also have the 1" "drop" pegs. I am 6'1" and it fits me fairly well. However, one long trips (over 50 miles) I utilize the aftermarket seat (Saddle?) I have which is similar to the OEM regular (tall) Seat (saddle). It has more padding than the OEM part & is pretty comfortable for 100+ miles. Don't pay $110.00 for a "low" Seat/saddle (whatever) Look on E-Bay: Low (whatever's) come up on a regular basis & can be had for much less. Just my 2 cents. (Yes, I have been drinking) Chris C | ||

Concur, I think...except for the drinking part! Low seats are a dime a dozen. High, tall, standard, etc. seats command a premium price. I used to think all low seats were hard and all tall seats were soft, but that is not the case. Depends on the year and who broke them in. The 2002 tall seat I had, there was no way you would slide anywhere. You sunk in and stuck. The tall seat I had from the 2000 model though, was very firm. I've found that it doesnt really matter what height you are to recommend a seat. | ||

My tall saddle is soupy soft and feels as if it angles downhill to the front of the bike ... I'd like to try a low saddle. I walked my four miles in one hour and worked out with the machines at the YMCA for half an hour this evening and drank a quart of cranberry juice ... usually have a big glass of cheap red wine from a box ... but skipped that tonight. Sure would like to meet a couple Blast! owners for a beer !!! | ||

Expecting too much.....unless you want to pony up for a Corbin or Meyer or Sargents. The Corbin completely changes the feel of the bike. A different tall seat would probably be better. The low seat definitely will roll you to the front of the bike. The most comfortable place for me to sit is 'on the tank'. Sit further back and its a one way ticket to Wedgie Town. | ||

I love my Sargent seat! They did a great job and even matched the yellow piping on the seat to the color of my Blast  | ||

I am going to put my two cents in on the Meyer...I know every seat is different for every person, what works for one, may not for another. Meyer will adjust the seat to what you want in a saddle, so if you tend to get pushed forward (very true on the low seat) you can tell them when you send in your pictures and measurements that on the OEM you tend to get pushed forward, he will adjust accordingly. And he will make adjustments according to how you do with the finished product; at least he used to. I have had mine for a long time and it has only gotten better with time. I thought at one point I would have him do an adjustment but then the seat but ended up not needing it. I think with your height, you will not be happy with the low seat, just my opinion. ... anybody have a "trashed" BLAST! saddle that they'd part with cheap ??? ... I'd like to find a good "seat pan" I could play with ... I can do some upholstery ... | ||

Cgent - More than happy to grab a beer if you get your blast down near the south side of Indy. I have been thinking about taking the cover off my oem tall seat, and throwing in some gel pad or something, and then stapling the cover back on. If you search the archives, I'm sure someone has done it in the past. |
