This may have been done before, but I thought it might be good to hear what mods folks have done and what they thought their best ones were and the ones that they wouldn't do over again. As for me, I think my favorite mod I have done was the Palmer brackets for my screen. With the Palmer brackets I can ride much more comfortably on the highway. I am also really happy with my Alaskan Sheepskin. It doesn't make the seat as totally comfortable, and I may get an aftermarket seat one day, but it is an improvement over just the seat. I guess next is the conversion to red taillights integrated in with my brake light. It is not something I think about much, but they do make the bike more visible from behind, which is good. I have done a couple of other mods that I don't regret, but are more cosmetic honestly than functional. One is the headlight mod so that both headlights are on at high beam. I really don't think it makes that much difference in the amount of light I get at night. My only concern was the way I did it. I couldn't get the connector apart in spite of reading every post on here that I could find about how to accomplish that, so I ended up cutting the wires and switching them that way. Also, I put the Tuono mirrors on. I think they look MUCH better than the stock mirrors, but I am not that sure they give a better view to the rear. So, I don't guess I have done a mod I regret. I am looking at a couple more things I want to do in the not too distant future. First, I still want more light to see with and to be seen. I may just do the DDM HID lights or I may add some accessory lights. I keep changing my mind. Also, I want a louder horn. I will probably get a Stebel at some point. I just hate messing with the wiring and have been putting off those mods for now because it seems like every time I cut into the wires on my bike I see myself totally screwing things up. So, what about you guys. |

+1 sheepskin. +1 headlight mod. HID!!!! But driving lights look yellow now-don't even use them. Mirrors with turn signals. Voltmeter from J&P. LEDs in the trunk reflector-thanks mikef5000! Speakers in tank bag and amp under seat. Stebel horn awaiting time to install. GPS. Laminar lip but want Palmer brackets and highway pegs so I can stretch a little on a long trip. |

Farkles are your friend! I got my XT last November and have since added: Palmer Brackets = Must do for comfort Fatty volt meter = Must do for piece of mind DDM HID Install = Must do for evening riding Scala Rider: not a bike mod per se, but bluetooth helmet connection to the bike/iPhone/GPS Personal preference mods: Ram Mount for my iPhone/GPS Conti Road Attack 2 tires - to be installed this week Triple Tail pad Triple Tail back pack: Actually I have the big tail bag for the 1125r, but it's about the same size and I got it from Rossmeyer's when they were blowing them out for $50 or so. Catapillar O-ring "cruise control" Possible future mods: Since I polish the KEDA pipes, Dean sent me one of his new XB pipes to polish and try out E B R reworked ECM Not sure which category this goes in to but: A map on the wall and a set of darts to throw at it to decide where the next ride is going! |

About the horn, i wired the original to an old X1 or was it an S1 if you can wire them both together the horn is perfect I doubt if the stebel will be any louder, and by space this mod is far easier and cheaper. PreEng foot pegs, I find them more comfortable and slip proof. Rizoma led turn lights nice looking. Torque grips great comfort (wish I had another pair) Polaris heated grips, great for those colder days (I cant wear thick gloves) Have a Corbin seat but the original low one for 2007 is great. Go pro camera, nice to make a few videos. Free spirits belt tensioner (nothing to say, supposed to make the life easier for the belt and bearings). Laminar lip great item on the lower screen. Zero gravity tall screen, works fine for me. Remapped ecm + FAST air intake + D&D great work in the low mid and high rev range, they hear me arrive from far. Catch can it does it's job. TZL2 8 piston caliper a bit more power never goes wrong. CRG Levers, can only compare to originals but they are a great improvement, yes they are expensive, but they're worth it. Next step is to put brake lever and shifter from PreEng, and a volt meter. I have a few other mods but they are just cosmetic. |

My top two on my 08 XT are the Palmer Brackets with the stock tall windshield and also the new version 06 tall seat. Not sure which I like better! The 1" handlebar risers also made the bike fit me better and are well worth the money. I have a new Erik Buell Racing ECM that I have not installed yet and am hoping that becomes one of my favorites too. My favorite safety mod is definitely the tail light/ brake light in the trunk reflector, thanks again mikef5000. I'm surprised the stock setup on the XT is even legal with that brake light tucked so far down and under the trunk. |

My favorite mod has to be the heated gear and grips. They allow me to extend my riding season. I don't have a worst.....why would I do a worst mod? I guess you could buy a used bike with chrome or running boards on it that would have to come off. |

Oh, I forgot, I also added a Kaoko throttle lock. Pricy, but it works nice when I use it. I don't do that much highway riding, but when I do I appreciate it. My 10 came with many of the mods you guys are listing, so less for me to do. I already have the improved wheel bearings and the heated grips. Also, I have been thinking about a Drummer and I plan to get an Erik Buell Racing ecm at some point. I haven't decided about the Drummer. I like the sound, but I am afraid I will not like the increased noise level on long all day rides. |

On my '07 Uly here's my list. Best Tall Windscreen Palmer Brackets Heated Grips Buell GPS (Original - not the best upgraded GPS unit to a Nav II unit, but gets me from A to B). Upgraded air intake Larger Buell topcase HB Gobi cases Worst upgrades Touratech skidplates -- Not really a bad upgrade, just expensive and since I never used this for the trip I was going to take, more of a waste of money. |
