Maybe you should go ride one sometime. Just because it has a Bar-n-Shield on it doesn't make it slow. I'd rather give up riding that get on a Harley--any kind of Harley. there are way better options out there that do cruisers....and I hope more people in the cruiser market start to think outside of the harley box.} |

When I went to Daytona last year we spent a day test riding bikes. I got my dad to try a triumph and he got me to try harley and victory. Of course the only bike at harley that was somewhat interesting to me was the v-rod so that's what I rode. It seemed quick but handled like a pig. I felt like even the big victory I drove was as fast as the vrod and handled better surprisingly. I don't know if the muscle is faster, I just drove a regular vrod. I have to admit a bike like this would be nice for long rides, but the first time I drug hard parts I knew I wasn't ready. |

I have an '06 Night Rod and an 1125R I like both but they are very different. I always considered the Night Rod as a Sport Cruiser but it's really just a big muscle bike. It doesn't handle like a sport bike in any way. But it does draw a crowd...

Hey, Snackbar, if you thought a V-Rod had comparable performance to an 1125, then you have never opened the throttle on an 1125. The 1125 has more HP and weighs nearly 200 lbs less. Ridiculous to compare in performance. |

I have no doubt the 1125 is probably faster, but considering the V-Rod's heft it did very little to give me a since that the bike was large and underpowered like I have seen posted regarding its performance. I was quite shocked by how effortless the acceleration was. |

snackbar, yes the 1125 has more power and less weight etc, but you need to understand that most on here have never ridden any harley and talk out of their ass about how slow all of them are etc etc |

I owned a Nightrod special with the 240 tire and really liked everything about the bike except the weight and the forward mounted footpegs. I actually thought I'd like the forward mount till I rode the bike from Nashville to Deal's Gap, man it wore my legs out. However I will say it handled the Dragon Tail pretty good for it's just too heavy. If that bike had the mid mount pegs and dropped about 200 lbs, it would be a great bike and I'd still own it. That being said, I just sold/traded a Duc. Streetfighter and it was worlds better in all respects, now own a 1125 CR and am beginning to mod a few parts. If a pipe gives me what I think it should, the CR should run close to the Duc and when I lower the pegs some I believe the comfort will be similar. This one should be fun to modify, the Duc was hard to do anything to except bolt on expensive, Italian made parts. Did I say the Duc was beautiful, almost wanted to keep it in the garage and look (lust) at it! |

Personally I don't consider the V-Rod a Harley anymore than the 1125's. To me Harley is Sportsters and "Big Twins", and having owned four of them (BT's) can say that relatively speaking, unless you build the hell out of them, they are slow. The standard for "fast" stock bikes is litre-plus inline fours. Get a ride on a ZX-10, Hayabusa, etc sometime. Hold them wfo/redline for a few gears. Bit faster than a Duece you'll find. |

Harleys work great for what they are designed to do. I've ridden a few, and I liked them. Race bikes, they weren't. If you expect your Harley to beat up the kids on the busa's, you've purchased the wrong motorcycle. Enjoy it for what it is. It is not an all purpose motorcycle. Neither is a Busa. My tuber on the other hand... |

Maybe you should go ride one sometime. Just because it has a Bar-n-Shield on it doesn't make it slow. actually, it does. Find me the quickest quarter mile time of ANY factory Harley, and I'll bet ya it's still slow Hey, they are what they are. Different strokes...... snackbar, yes the 1125 has more power and less weight etc, but you need to understand that most on here have never ridden any harley and talk out of their ass about how slow all of them are etc etc Us engineers like numbers, so I don't need to actually ride one. Feelings don't compete with numbers, they just make you feel good. Looks like the VRod is the quickest stock Harley made, with quartermiles in the mid to high 11s Quick, but not fast (Message edited by sprintst on February 17, 2011) |

Feelings don't compete with numbers, they just make you feel good Isnt feeling good why anyone rides? Sure, Harleys are slow. They arent meant to be fast, they have spent 100+ years evolving to be as aesthetically and aurally pleasing as they can. To make you feel good. Otherwise, whats the point? A numbers based dick waiving contest? Put your slide ruler away and get out of your moms basement for once. |

I have a 2009 CVO Fat Bob to compliment the 1125R and the Suzuki track bike. It is surprising how well the Fat Bob handles given its weight and the fact that I always have my partner on the bike, there is no way I would ask her to ride on the back of the Buell. However if I had known that HD were going to close down Buell I would never have bought the Harley - hope you are reading this HD as it is the last bike I will ever buy from you. |

not everything is about 1/4 mile or lean angle. A guy i work with has an 09 Road king, probably one of the over all "sturdiest",i guess is a good word, bikes i have ever ridden. easy to ride, comfy, electronic cruise, and smooth, no loud ass pipes on it. harley has probably one of the best fuel injection systems for stock bike out there. im no Harley advocate im just stating my observations. id take just about and other modern street bike over a Harley (including a vrod) |

>>>but you need to understand that most on here have never ridden any harley and talk out of their ass about how slow all of them are etc etc Then there are those of us who have had as many as 9 at a time and bought an XLCR and XR-1000 on the same day and paid over $25,000 each hot rodding 2 of our personal bikes and then sunk a boat load of money into sponsoring our own race teams. |

Isnt feeling good why anyone rides? It is for me... When working in Az I had a company Road King. I really liked it. I've ridden a few HDs over the years (never owned one though) they are "OK" for somethings but the Street Glide I borrowed a few months back was awful, It didn't feel like the forks were attached to the frame at all...a nd my wife burnt her leg on the exhaust and the radiated heat from the engine/pipes put my 1125R to shame! OK the stereo was nice, cruising through town with Nirvana blaring out was fun, but getting to the location frazzled, with a sweaty bum and burnt wife was far from ideal.. Most metric cruisers are far superior to HD's offerings.. Hell even the Victory range is better... |

Miata vs Corvette Arguably, the Miata is more fun than the Corvette, since on the street it's easy to push the Miata toward it's limits, since it's limits are lower. But at the end of the day, we sold our Miata and went back to owing Corvettes. As fun as it was, it still wasn't a Corvette. If "fun" is what you want, and the Harley is more fun, hey, it's a free country, more power to you (well less, actually) Just don't think they are fast when they aren't How fast something is is not subjective. How fast something feels is. A man's got to know his limitations. I think realistic Harley advocates gave up the speed/power thing a long time ago, and accept the bikes for what they are, and what they love about them. But don't delude yourself into thinking they are fast, because they simply aren't And in Harley's defense, I looked at their bikes on a showroom then at a Honda chopper and the Harley's were way, way nicer looking (Message edited by sprintst on February 17, 2011) |

And in Harley's defense, I looked at their bikes on a showroom then at a Honda chopper and the Harley's were way, way nicer looking That's a subjective view I prefer the look of the Honda Chop as a "base" for something special... But then again I don't really like any "stock" bike. It's definately "horses for courses", I guess when comparing bikes you really ought to be comparing the positive/negative aspects of each against your own (personal) list of requirements. I think if I did more "touring" with a pillion then I'd go for something "different" to the Buell... If i wanted straightline, point to point performance a VRod would be "OK", if i wanted to do a lot more solo riding on twisty roads then the Buell is the king. Personally - I want it all, hence the need to have more than one bike! Even though the VRod does have some appeal to me i can't see myself buying one, i'm still bitter over the way HD "managed" the Buell closure, I can't see that opinion wearing off anytime soon. Who knows, if Erik Buell Racing manage to become a sales success again I may reconsider the whole thing and "forgive" HD but that's a ways off yet. If i had to choose one bike between the 1125 and the VRod it'd be the 1125 every time butthen I acknowledge that I am biased... i can live with that, choosing a bike is a personal thing, based mainly on subjective interpretation of your own personal wants/needs... I'm OK with that |

Find me the quickest quarter mile time of ANY factory Harley, and I'll bet ya it's still slow Looks like the VRod is the quickest stock Harley made, with quartermiles in the mid to high 11s The Destroyer was built by HD, sold through dealers in decent quanity...they are about 2 seconds or so faster than what you posted. Are low 9s slow? Like said above, its not all about drag times etc hell if that were the case then we're on the wrong forum, we should've all gotten a ZX14 or Busa, right? I mean, they are a bit quicker stock over a 1125. No, they arent all fast from the factory (HDs), but just cause its got the shield on it doesnt mean its slow. And Fast/Slow aint what its all about. Quality is key. The bike for a specific purpose is key. Court - you make me jealous with those two bikes. And Im well aware of sponsoring your racing habits, my season starts in 3 weeks and Im already spending way more than I want to. |

The Destroyer? Lol. Come on now, a STREET bike, not a factory drag bike. This isn't about what bike is better. That is subjective, based on what a person wants from their machine. Looks, feel, etc.. all subjective. Handling, top speed, acceleration, not subjective. However, if one is going to state "you can't say a Harley is slow if you haven't ridden one", well that statement deserves challenge. If it's got a Harley shield, it is slow in comparison to other motorcycles, even when compared in their own classes. I remember a recent comparison of the XR, the competitive bikes had a higher mph in the 1/4 mile than the top speed of the Harley! That makes the Harley slow. Again, if you like a Harley for whatever reason, more power to you. But don't kid yourself if you think they are fast. Stock Harleys are not. Only the VRod can keep up with today's muscle cars. Comparing a Harley to a Miata is pretty back handed. Id liken it more to a Cadillac. Cadillac makes some sportier models, but they arent designed to be a track car. They are about comfort and features. This isnt an all or nothing deal, one person can love both styles. I just love motorcycles. |

ROFL, um, I was comparing a Miata to a Corvette. Miata feels fast, and may even be more fun on the street, but at the end of the day, I went back to a Corvette. More is just more. |
