I am selling my 1125r and was wondering if anyone that sold a bike before could give my a good way to approach the test ride topic. Do I let him test drive it? Do I wait till I have payment in hand? and if no test drive how should I tell him thanks | ||

I stole this idea from Court, and I think it works best to protect both parties. You make them buy the bike, and then give them a 1 hour window to return it, 100% refund, assuming they return it in the same condition it was when you sold it. This way, if they do a wheelie and dump it in a ditch and get hurt, you aren't liable. If they cruise around town and figure out that the bike just isn't for them, they have the ability to back out. | ||

I've let responsible parties test ride before. I take a scanned copy of their driver license and insurance verification, and I usually rode with them. I absolutely screened, too. The clean-cut Asain guy that had an IT job and came with his wife in a nice new Honda Accord got to test ride. The less savory ones did not. | ||

I sold a 'Busa last year and the guy wanted to test ride it.. I got him to hand me all of the cash first, checked his licence and insurance and let him go.. He rode one street over then sat there bouncing the bike off the limiter for a full 5 minutes "to make sure it was sound" before coming back and saying he's changed his mind. Apparently my response of "tough sh*t" wasn't what he expected, so i offered him his cash back less £150 for being a tw*t. He chose the bike.. | ||
