HI there I am new to the bwb but on my second buell. Currently owning a 1996 s2 thunderbolt and now a s1w that i picked up this winter. I have one problem though I need a heat shield for the s1w are there any aftermarket sites I should be looking at. I was considering wrapping it but after hearing about the smell I think I have decided on a shield (orig)for the bike Please let me know where I should look Thanks Mike |

St. Paul HD on ebay used to have the S1 exhaust heat shields, but it appears they only have the one for the S2 now. Still, may be worth pursuing directly with them. Their ebay internet sales on tuber Buell parts is separate from their regular parts sales department. |

This is a nice one http://www.americansportbike.com/shoponline/ccp0-p rodshow/5082.html Or you can make one yourself from some aluminum sheet ,so you give the bike your own touch! |

Get the number and have a dealer "poll" it . . .I'll be there are some in stock somewhere. I gave away my spare last year. |

You are looking for a 65342-94Y. That's the old number, a dealer or someone will need to convert it. Then have them poll it and see if there are any in the system. |

Um, is it not 65874-96Y that was renumbered to S0175.9? |

An S1 part should be a .9 (or -96Y) part number. A .8 or -94Y part number is something that started on the S2 (but could've carried over onto an S1 or later bike). The heat shield was definitely different on an S1 from an S2. Hope that's as clear 'in print' as it is in my head, 1313 |

Very true. My S2 shield will not fit my S1W's stock header, nor will the S1W's shield fit the S2. They're *close*....but not close enough. |
