Some of you may have followed some of my posts regarding my 07 Uly with 30K on it. Issues have included everything from the standard stuff (belt, bearings, 77 connector, etc) to the unusual (heads fell off, ripped out the O2 sensor) to the bizarre and terminal (at 30K the engine top end mysteriously ran without oil and destroyed itself.) I thought long and hard about my next step. I considered going with a used BMW GS. I thought about the new Tiger 800. I might have repaired the 07, with either a top end repair or a replacement engine. In the end, I decided to purchase an 08 from a member of this forum. I have not received the bike yet (paperwork still in progress) but it is at this point a fait accompli. I chose to convince myself that I had a lemon, that the 08s are better bikes. I just couldn't walk away from the torque or the handling. Plus, I'm already eight bucks into a Buell hat, so that would have been money down the drain. I'm going to have the 07 returned to me by the dealer in whose shop it currently sits. Since I have no intention to repair it, I'll have some spare parts. Now, I am NOT going to sell the belt. I may or may not hang onto the wheels. Other than that, I'm pretty open to helping out needy Buellers needing organ transplants. I have no idea what stuff is worth. Let me know if you're interested in something, and what you think it might be worth, and we can talk. As far as the engine, I'm told by the dealer that the heads look good, it was the cylinders and pistons that got shredded. However, I make absolutely no guarantees about anything except I will not sell something which I KNOW to be bad. If I can help you, let me know. |

Well at least you are staying in the family. I hope this one works better than the last. |

If I were you, I would hold onto the whole thing... or at least everything that will bolt to the '08 You never know when you might need it... In the mean time, yank the top end off the '07, get the jugs punched out or buy a new set and put a set of 9 pistons in it and rock and role.... if not... I'll take anything you don't want. I have a 06 Uly and 07 TT that I keep hording parts for... |

You are very wise, grasshopper. I think the only things that I can't use are some of the electrical stuff, since they changed that in 08. Stator, for example, and the ECM...you know, the things that fail and are expensive... And the front end stuff...fork parts... |

I'd be interested in the fork springs(if you were to pull them out n sell them). Also I'd take your right n left lower frame rails. You can contact me at greginmn at hot mail if you want. Currently I don't think my profile and PM stuff works on this site. Let me know, thanks. |

Ski, I figured you were going to pull the trigger on that 08! Congratulations. I agree with you, you had a lemon unfortunately. Looking forward to seeing how you like the new ride. |

I agree with Wolf. Might want to think about keeping what bolts on to your 08. Congrats on the new-to-you bike though! I love, LOVE, my 09XT. |

Bummer of a deal on the old bike but I think you made the right decision in the end. Especially considering the investment in the hat and all. |

I'm going to wait a couple of days before I respond individually to the requests, but I will honor them in the order. I do have to give some thought to what I should keep. |

Gentlemen: My apologies for the delay in responding. I've been waiting to get the bike back, and waiting to get the 08. I'm still waiting for the title for the 08 but the 07 (sans top end) will be in my garage today. I just sent a PM to wolfridgerider telling him that he did call dibs. However, I am going to try to give priority to people who are needing parts to get back on the road. I am not selling any luggage or mounting hardware, as the bike I am purchasing does not have that. I am also going to keep the wheels, tires, belt. There are things that are specific to the 07 (such as the ECM) which I have no use for. I am not trying to make money, I am trying to break even on the shop bill for the diagnosis (don't ask, jeeze even killing a Uly is expensive) and help people out. It would be useful for you to make an offer on stuff, people who let me know what they're willing to pay will get priority. |

Craig- are they the factory 08-up heated grips or what? |

I believe they're what were standard on the 08. The 07 didn't come with them, so in 08 when Buell made them available, I ordered them. They are, in other words, Buell OEM heated grips. I think that answers your question...if not let me know. |

Swing arm is dirty but no damage. One of the heads has a broken stud that needs to be removed but I was told by the shop that the heads looked ok. If interested, I can send you a photo. |

Hi. I've sent out the handlebars, flyscreen, windshield, left mirror, and tail section. The wiring harness, fuel pump, oil cooler, headlights, fork springs, rear shock, and headers are spoken for. I'm keeping the wheels. I still have the swingarm, rails, frame, airbox, heads, and various other bits and pieces left. Just lemme know. Craig |

Keeping the wheels...are you keeping the pulley, too? I'm interested if you're willing to sell it. Also, how much for the grips? I have a stock RH switch housing I can send you as well as some stock grips, so you have "spares"... |
