After shelling my x-1 engine last year figured it was time to move on. I took my time and found the right one. Black 08 1125r with the lower fairing kit with a little less than 900 miles. All recalls done and at a great price. From the local H/D dealer of all places. I just like the look of the fairing lowers than stock look. The price was way better than most i have been looking at with 3 or more times the miles

Congratulations on your new purchase and be sure to check the search engine for some additional information you might need. Again welcome to the 1125r section.

Welcome Tom -
The 08 1125R started production 30 OCT 07, IIRC, and started shipping in November.
I got mine 18 DEC 07, go back in the archives to around Jan-Feb of 08 and you'll see a lot of threads discussing the issues with the 08s.

At least we don't have charging issues like the later models.

It's a solid bike, mine has 26k miles.
Most enjoyable vehicle I have ever owned.

Zack

Oh what a shame, that's a gorgeous X-1... enjoy your 11..........

I loved my x-1. Burt it was kind of a love/hate relationship. The bike had more issues than any woman i ever dated or was married to. I missed it, but decided to swear off any more h/d engine bikes. That is why i decided on a 1125. Thanks for the welcome to the board

Sorry to hear about the X-1, hopefully things will be better with the 1125.

Damn, I was still thinking about buying your X1 for an electric bike project. Oh well, snooze, I lose.

Also, I bought my 1125's to get away from the Harley based motor too.

No BS now Froggy, you and I both have lump-powered Buells.
Gotta say tho, this Rotax is a monster.

I love my Ulysses for daily commuting and borderline bad days.
It's like a Jeep, carries a good size load of groceries too!

Loretta's a hot-rod.
Get's my blood pumping even on the freeway.
Best so far are trips into the mountain twisties in the Summer. wow.

I'm really hooked on Erik's creations.
That and I hate being in a cage.

Indeed I do, but I put them where they belong.

I wouldn't say I will never buy any more air cooled Buells, but if they are cheap, I can always use more bikes. Then I can take the motor out and put in something else : )

Rode it today for a few miles. i was a little leery due to slightly wet road and sand still left from last weeks storm. What a beast. Loud, fast, torquey and dead sexy with the fairing lowers. The D and D can is going to take some getting used to. It definately has bark. Overall a HUGE difference between it and my x-1

Put about 150 miles on the 1125 today. WHAT A BLAST to ride. Power on demand from off line all the way to 9 or 10 grand and handling is spot on. Laid the smack down on a friend who is running off at the mouth about his 09 ZX14 concours. walked away from him to 125mph when i left off. Had him by at least 3 lengths. He shut up after that I don't really know what he expected. the 1125 has about 15 less hp, but about 200 lbs less weight. Anyway it was great riding today.

Why are the two Buells parked on there side

Just my guess. It's a dog pack and the air cooled bikes are being submissive to the dominance of the Helicons ; )

Using the snow to keep the motor cool so the fan doesn't run 24/7. It also helps prevent the stator from melting the 77 connector, and the rocker boxes from puking oil, spark plugs fouling, primary chain loosening, the clutch from slipping, and the vibrations causing everything to rub and wear through random wires. : )
