I posted earlier about my dismay in finding a nail in the new tire just replaced on the CR. I had ordered yet another tire, as I have found that plugging a tire is not all that reliable. My plan was to pull the nail while at the dealers with the new tire, and if it leaked to replace it. But I have a trailer, and it finally got warm enough here in Dallas to actually do something outside, so I bit the bullet and pulled the nail. Turns out, it was apparently the head of a rivet! Only about 1/4 in deep, and hollow! No leak. So, now I have a spare rear tire. At the rate I used up the last one (stock Pirelli) The Michelin dual compound should run a whole lot longer. Many thanks to those here who steered me into the new tire. I'll report on tire life later. | ||

Join the club. While I don't mind plugging rear tire (done MANY!), I wouldn't plug a front. Doesn't matter anyway on this one...my first ever flat "front" tire (a fairly new Pilot Pure) last Thursday leaving work. Doing about 75...the my CR felt...funny. I gave it a little wiggle, nuthin, gave it a little harder wiggle.hmmm. Then came a bend in the road...the bike didn't want to turn..! I pulled off the freeway and didn't need to look, I knew it was flat. I found a tire store and refilled it with air. Seemed fine. Back on the road. About 5 miles later...flat again. To make a really long story short, I drove about 12 or 15 miles home on a dead flat front tire. At 40mph max., it wasn't too bad a drive....! Slowed "way" down for the corners.. Like driving a big truck without power steering. Picked up a new Pilot Power this morning..! Mike | ||
