I'm not sure I know what you mean by shock "and strut". I bought a Uly shock from someone here on the board for $75. I bought it as a temp. unit to use on my bike while my stock one was being rebuilt. I never got to use it as they just built me a whole new shock. I'll give it to you for what I paid + shipping. |

Lex, all years of XB12X and XP use the same rear shock. It was the XT, SS, and TT that was different (shorter) |

Hope this is helpful to! Buell XB shock lengths in inches: S/R 14.0 SS 13.625 STT 14.25 X 15.0 The difference from the earlier and later XB,s is the swingarm and mounting point on swing arm and frame so the shocks are also mounted under a different angle. |

with all that being said, im in the market for a shock for an SS. according to froggy it would be for an 06 to 08 that i want. and what gives with this lowering kit thingy? looks like it would reposition the spring by giving up some preload tension, thereby lowering the bike. but whoah, that means youd be running effectively a weaker shock or less (a lot) preload. can that be a good thing? im thinking if one really wants to do that sort of thing he should find a replacement spring that gives near factory designed support but is shorter, so it would probably be a fatter coil but shorter. any injineers out there? |
