The Ducati Diavel really doesn't float my boat and I struggle to see the point of a 162bhp naked cruiser really.
Just what is it good at that other bikes can't do? It is a technilogical dead end and built as a pure marketing exercise to sell to well heeled posers. I really hope Erik Buell Racing doesn't decide to follow it  |

Hey - isn't my Ulysses a power-cruiser?
It's got almost the luggage capacity of an Ultra, more than a Road King. Definitely more power than either stock.
With the Baldwin seat, it's a road-eating high-sitter.
Homecoming last year was a great, trouble-free 3500 mile road-trip.
I'd love to see an 1190 version of the Uly and a little brother with an 800cc or so motor and a couple of hundred pounds less weight and a 21" front wheel. |

OK, I must admit, that I hate drag-racing. But sure it is listed under the umbrella term "racing".
But a cruiser is not a dragbike and a Ulysses is not a cruiser for my understanding. Buell advertised the Ulysses as "the world's first adventure sportbike." Here the most press-guys put her together with the BMW F800GS and the Triumph Tiger to the category "Travel-Enduro" (don't know the english word for this category, meaning big powered bikes in the enduro-style, but primary constructed for long road-trips).

I really would have been nice to see what the vrod SHOULD have been. I'd love to know all the details of those meetings. I can only imagine some of the dumb comments and stupid thoughts tossed over that table. But as for the power cruiser,.........i shuddered when i read the title, and although the idea is cool, let's let EB do his own thing, his own way, and at his speed for once. |

Trojan - riding a motorcycle isn't always about what it can do better, faster, slower or worse. Fun factor plays a large roll - as does comfort.
I've never owned a cruiser myself, but a light, comfortable v-twin motorcycle with 160hp? Sign me up. And just for the record; I bet the Ducati Monster and Triumph Speed Triple didn't make much sense either to some when they were launched... |

To my mind cruiser is feet-forward soft suspension go slow chrome old guys bike. Not that there's anything wrong with that. I have '48 Indian just to keep the new breed HD riders quiet. Here's a Diavel review from a respected moto-guy-

I love my v-rod for riding 2 up with my girlfriend. Nothing like my 1125 solo, but it's been a great bike for what it does. Cruise... really fast. |
