Please kindly help me to figure out the problem. Here is my story:

To start the engine,I normally turn on the key to switch on the engine, during this the fuel pump works and stops. Also, when I even tried to semi-start the engine, the fuel pump as well as the spark plug still work. Afterwards when I start the engine, it works properly so that I can ride.

Right now I am having this problem:

When I start the engine,I turn on the key to switch on the engine, during this the fuel pump works and stops. But when I tried to semi-start the engine, the fuel pump and the spark plug do not work any longer. I also cannot even start the engine afterthat.

Remark: I have already checked the fuse box and relayed. Such the problem has been on and off for two weeks and I am having a big headache Please HELP

Many thanks

Dead battery or loose battery connection. Check your grounds.

Have you a voltmeter handy? Check the power wire to your coil (mine is gray) when you are having this difficulty. Power good? You have no fuse box, kill switch, or key switch issue. My S3 had a similar mystery problem for quite a while which was cured when I changed the cam position sensor and its rotating trigger. Spark can only be stopped by denying power or ground to the coil. If you have power, you have an issue with the grounding portion of the circuit: this is more likely to be in the moving part mounted to the hot, vibrating engine than to be in the module itself. Terrys1980 has a point about the ground: the cable-to-frame bolt is subject to corrosion. If it looks at all crusty, wire brush it and the frame where it grounds.

Thanks for the info. I have changed CPS and it turns to work again. It is such a relief to me. Thank you very much

Happy to help. I had gotten so frustrated with my 1999 S3's intermittent refusal to run that I converted to a carburetor and dual-fire coil. The moment I changed the CPS, all was well.
