I just purchased the LED tail light for the R and after I took the old light off, I noticed that the connectors are different. Anyone have any experience installing the LED on an 08R? I don't want to start cutting wires until I have a grip on the correct method. I know, I am making this more difficult then it should be but, I don't want to screw anything up. Thanks for the insight. |

First, which light did you buy? The XBLights one uses the stock connectors. The 2010 OEM tail light requires you change the connector, but it isn't hard to cut it off and splice on some spades to fit the bikes wiring harness. I put a pair of XBlights on both of my 1125's recently, they are fantastic. |

LEDs are polarity sensitive, unlike light-bulbs. Make sure you have plus and minus right or you'll fry it. |

Froggy, I purchased the LED from Erik Buell Racing LED taillight mounts in the stock location. This is a direct replacement tailight for 2010 XB and 1125 models. All other model year bikes are equipped with different mating connector(s) and will require reterminating the wires for your specific bike. We have a limited supply of these from building race bikes. Though new, these are sold as a used part without warranty. When I purchased the light I read the part about direct replacement and thought it would connect right in. Of course, once I read it over again, I noticed that it said direct replacement for 2010 XB and 1125. I have an 08. Its not a direct fit. lol |

Thanks for that info Zac4mac, when I decide to hook the light up, I will keep that in mind. |

Yep, just snip the end off it and replace with right size spades and it will connect right to the stock harness. I'm too lazy to search for you, but I am sure there is at least one guide on here with pics of the process. |

This definitely helps. It's always nice to have visuals to provide confidence even with the simple things. Much appreciated, Paul. |
