They are more reliable and require less maintance than an XB. No primary chain adjustments, no primary fluid changes, no clutch adjustments. Longer service intervals for oil, filters, plugs, fork oil. You do have to check the valve shims at 12,000 mile intervals, and you gain coolant flushing every few years, but those aren't anything major. I've owned two XB's (06 Uly, 06 SS) and have two 1125's (08R, 09CR). My XB's have shopping lists of minor issues taken care of under warranty, and my 1125's while not flawless have treated me much better and were fixed no questions asked. Like the XB's, there are some minor issues you may encounter, but everything has a fix. Getting most parts is no worse than getting XB parts in my experience. There are less 1125 certified techs out there, due to the shorter production run. My best advise for you is to find one and take it for a ride. No bike is perfect for everyone, so take one out for a spin to see if it does "it" for you first |

I have to disagree with you Froggy. I've owned an XB12R for almost five years now. The XB's are the least maintenance intensive bike ever. Period. The 1125R requires that valve inspection every 12,500 mile, which needs an engine rotation to complete. That right there takes a massive step backwards in whatever low maintenance it may have. I would put the 1125R maintenance as just about as high as the Ducati 1198. |

Please back that up, because in 12,500 miles, the 1125 would of been serviced three times, with only one of them being a major service. In that same time period, the XB will have had 6 services including one major one. You have a lot more crap that needs constant adjustment and replacement. I have over 30,000 miles combined on two 1125s, and the cost of services on both of them combined still is less than 10,000 miles worth of riding on a XB, even including the valve adjustments. My 06 Uly had $1800 in scheduled services on it in 17,000 miles, I'm up to $824 combined on my 1125CR at 15,000 miles and my 1125R at 17,000 miles. |
