Looks like the only way to get rid of the vibration impacts on the video is to use a helmet or chest mount. I had mine mounted to the bars on the CR- same 'wavy' video. | ||

I have the side fairings on mine and it works well there plus you can see the front wheel and the distance changing to the ground on turns | ||

Looks good, makes me want to get one too... I don't know how much I would trust the suction mount, but with a simple bolt going through your wind screen it should be rock solid. | ||

You can get rid of wavy video with the third setting...720P@60fps. The higher frame rate does wonders and allows for smooth slow motion if getting fancy. Beware though that the 720 setting is the widest video I believe. I use Sony Vegas Pro also and after a couple hours googling and youtubing I figured out most of what I wanted to do with my videos and how to do it easily.the rest is just being creative. | ||

Steve, to be honest, riding in Houston traffic under any conditions is risky at best. Motorcycle fatalities are high, even police officers get hit by people who barely can drive! I used to commute on my bike, but I would rather race ice speedway than ride in city traffic!! | ||

We all parse the risk/reward equation in our own way - and that's the way it SHOULD be. It SHOULDN'T be the local and state vehicle codes (except for California) are completely out of step with the rest of the world. Bikes are efficient and there are 800 good reasons to allow lane sharing/filtering. Whether you individually choose to do it or park your street bike forever is your right. But that shouldn't affect MY right (or anyone else's) to make the best use of the machine in the way that (in the biggest picture) is best for society... and THAT'S the metric govt's SHOULD be using bro. More bikes on the road ... less saudi fuel needed. More bikes on the road, less spent by us on parking infrastructure, on lane additions, on road repair from 2ton vehicles bashing pothole edges caused by 8ton vehicles, etc.etc etc. bikes save the world resources and money. bikes are GREEN. Fear is not a good reason to keep lane-sharing illegal. | ||

Natty, I couldn't agree more. I was pissed when I heard about the lane sharing getting shot down in Texas. I ride in Houston traffic every day almost and in the summer I lane split no matter what. It is too hot to sit in traffic on a motorcycle. I've even done it in front of cops and never had a problem. One asked me what the hell I was doing (he was in front of the line) and I told him my bike was 220degs and would die if I sat in traffic...he waved me on (to my surprise). Texas should absolutely have lane sharing/splitting. | ||

I am all for lane splitting and for sure if the entire world commuted on 2 wheels gasoline would be a hell of a lot cheaper here and everywhere in the world. Not to mention significantly reduced carbon emissions! I just have too many broken bones to raise the odds running in traffic. | ||

I've gotta hand it to the CHP here. I was riding north of SF, headed for the Redwood Run with a couple of friends. It was near 100 on I-5 and traffic started backing up. We were starting to fidget because of the heat, when a CHP Moto pulled up next to us and said follow him - Right between all the cars with lights on!! One of those days... Z | ||

You don't NEED a police escort to split traffic in California... it's just nice to have one because if those fat bikes can fit between the cars, so can you. (I've followed motocops between cars on gridlocked freeways many times). | ||

I've talked about this on the radio before and I'll do it again. There are SO MANY good reasons to allow safe "filtering" for bikes... it just makes no sense to me that motorcyclists in other states aren't organizing and actively going after a friendly congressman (like that guy in Texas) who can put up a bill. It's just a rule ... it can be broken (and you get busted) or it can be changed. | ||

funny thing is not everybody does in socal. I see lots of people sitting and waiting, in a lane behind cages. In addition to all the green bulls#it and how much faster you get places, from a safety stand point, I think you're way more likely to be nailed from behind while waiting with the cages than being sideswiped or a door opening while splitting. only my 2 cents after moving here from Colo 8 years ago, YMMV | ||

Like I said, there's a VERY long list of reasons why lane-splittling/sharing/filtering is a good idea. The "green" stuff is part of the argument for everyone else (especially good for local govts). | ||

Natty, did you know the bikers in Texas who are responsible for the motorcycle clubs got the lane splitting deal shot down...something about being required to wear a helmet to lane split...so they stomped their feet like children. | ||

Drawkward, That's what I heard, too. It had to do with helmet freedom at all costs. The politicians came away saying "well, not even the bikers want this thing"... When I had a street bike I still lane split and filtered in backed up traffic. | ||

Yep, that was it. It sucks that it seems the only voice of motorcyclists in Texas is generally Harley/Cruiser type riders. I'm like you though...I still lane split and filter in traffic. It's not worth me overheating my bike and dying on 45 cause some dumbasses don't know how to merge and some other dumbasses don't want to be made to wear a helmet to lane split. I'd gladly give up my right to not wear a helmet whilst lane splitting. That sounds impish when I typed it out, but to be able to filter and split legally would make riding around this city much more enjoyable. | ||

Helmet and full gear is a rule for me, ever since I started racing at 15. A long time ago me and a friend came upon a real Harley "biker" who was wearing a stroker cap and had smacked into the back of a stopped car at an intersection--Gessner and Westpark in Houston. He flew over the car, landed squarely on his head...he was DOA at the hospital. Gear up always!! | ||

Drawkward: I think it might have been your local ABATE group, but I don't know for sure. The Congressman's rep who appeared on my radio show to discuss it was the one who told me it was killed because some motorcyclists didn't want it and that struck him as "ironic." So if all the motorcyclists didn't want it (already a small minority), why should the car-driving public be inconvenienced at all. It died in committee. Damn...I wish I could forward through the show to get to the part about the law. Not that I don't appreciate your show, LOL!! Anyways, from what I've heard from some people involved in the whole motorcycle club scene, it was killed because the law would have required people to wear helmets if they were lane splitting. They didn't want to leave the door open for a helmet law to be enforced later on down the line. That's BS in my opinion and is an old douche bag motorcycle club/gang state of mind. Let me lane split and I'll wear my helmet, no questions asked. |
