I have the highbars on my CR but would prefer a little more upright position (I'm an old fart now). Does anyone make any 1" to 2" higher risers that will fit the CR with the factory highbars. I have found some to fit smaller diameter bars but none that fit the factory highbars. |

I looked into this and the top bar clamp holds the clocks too. You're going to need bars with a higher rise built in. |

Anyone have any suggestions for higher rise bars (in black if possible)? |

Cme - Come-on..it isn't THAT bad... How aged are you ? I'm 60...and wouldn't change the stock bars if ya paid me...well, depending on how much ya paid me....! I drive my CR 85 miles a day in lane splitting traffic. That's one things the designers got right. Now if they'd of only got the seat right..! Mike |

You should be able to buy risers that are an adapter of sorts, they slot into the existing mount and the bars then sit on top (you use longer bolts).. That's a dreadful explanation let me see if I can find some pics... |

I'm almost 60 as well and I like the clubmans. I thought I would need the high bars eventually so I have some stashed away. I don't want them yet, as I feel comfortable with the lower ones. The idea of sitting upright on a naked bike with 128 HP to the rear wheel seems...odd. 100 mph airspeeds on my naked SV make me feel like I will blow over backwards. There seems to be a bunch of us older guys with sportbikes now.I know its not an age crisis thing as a bunch of us idiots have been riding rockets for decades. When is the mandatory date for us to turn over all the driving to our mates, except when we putter off to the grocery store at low speeds, oblivious to other traffic and the fact that we are going 30 mph? |

That'd be the day you walk into a HD Stealership to PX the Buell for a Hydro-dyno-ultra-electroglide in Blue.. |

Yes, Jules. Alternately, I guess we could set up a road racing club where the rules allow velcro diaper/seat attachments and corrective windscreens so we can see each other in the braking zones. |

I would look into Rizoma or Renthal 'fat' taper bars first...there are a few others in the dirt bike market that could work. Be careful as there are two different types of bar bases (normal and fat) where the tapers are newer. You might want to look into a 'superbike bend' or something more dirt bike style. A trip to the dirt bike shop might help you find a nice bend. Some of the MFGs do have dimentions on the web pages that may help. I have the rizoma bars and like them. Here are a few pics of mine: http://tinyurl.com/46omnxh |

Check out the bars for an ATV, from after market companies like Pro Taper. You can get them with a higher bend and are 1-1/8 Dia at the mount. They are also wider but you can cut them the the width you want. |

I have the higher bars, and would like to have mine about 1 inch higher. but to do that I would probably have to redo all wiring and cables.... |

It looks like handlebars are the only way to go. The Rox adjustable type risers are what I was looking for, however I can't find one for 1 1/8" bars that fit into the V angled bar clamps that Buell uses (if you look, the clamp bolts are not parallel, but are farther apart at the front than on the back). Rox makes an adjustable riser that will fit the Buell clamps, but it only fits 7/8" bars...sigh :-/ |

There is almost no slack in the wiring with the Buell high bars. Any higher and you will be looking at lots of mods.... |

There are some other items at play here...the position I tried for the Rizoma bars that I liked couldn't work because of the switch pods hitting the tank. You have to turn the bars quite a bit forward to clear. The comments about the lines and wires being short COULD be a problem depending. My bike wasn't an issue, but others have had sorter wires than I. |
