Good luck to Pat Mooney at the Daytona tire test and Daytona 200 on his 1125R! Not too shabby for a vintage racer.... http://roadracingworld.com/news/article/?article=4 3066 |

Cheers guy's! Looks like rain on Monday, Tuesday looks good though. It'll be interesting to see how fast the Factory 600's are compared to the 1125R. There's some quick boys out there for sure. At 50 years old Im old enough to be most of these guys Dad/Grandad out there! |

The sticker I had on the tailpiece of my dragbike said "Old age and deception beats youth and enthusiasm" |

Only got 5 laps in on the correct circuit (AMA set up the wrong horse shoe for the first 1/2 of the session!) and had a "problem" and never did get hooked up with anyone to get a draft, so pushing my own air lost me a good second or so a lap. Did have great fun still! The 200 should be good, I'm sure I'll find a "dance partner" out there to draft with which will help lap times a huge amount. The 1125R is brilliant on the infield and accelerates fantastic, but aerodynamics are not it's strongest point compared to the tiny 600's and 848's. Trap speeds had me at 166mph, down 13mph from the fastest bikes which were all drafting together. Can't wait for March .....Go Buell!!! Pat Mooney |

I have a question about gearing at Daytona. Do you set up the transmission so 6th is only good in the draft? And if so do you run in 5th if you are running alone? Or is there that many transmission ratios available to do that. |

46champ, Good question, on the first part of our session (on the wrong track layout) I got to follow Danny Eslick on the Suzuki out of the chicane on the first lap, I got almost alongside him 3 times on the run from the chicane to start finish, each time I came out of the draft I would pull almost alongside, and then have to pull back into the draft. It would have been great to have tried taller gearing to do as you said, run 5th gear by yourself, and 6th gear to pull up in the draft and see if that would help, just didn't have enough time to try it. |
