anyone seen or heard of this company? They claim to be on alot of motogp bikes and on motogp champ yamahas. Apparently they have a full exhaust system made almost entirely from titanium for our Buells that doesn't cost much more than the Erik Buell Racing race exhaust system.

I don't think there is a Ducati anywhere that hasn't had a Termi transplant...they sound good on a Duc and they sound good on a R1 crossplane...and they look good...Ti has cool looking color once it ages a bit.

Correct me if I am wrong, but Pegasus uses the Erik Buell Racing exhaust. Termig is for Ducati, like Erik Buell Racing is Buell. IMHO.

Termignoni manufacture fabulous quality items, I've had several on my old Ducati's over the years and they have been lightweight, reliable and very sexy.. Top notch quality components and the welds are a thing of beauty..

The seller looks a bit of a dick though, all that BS about the Memjet EVO which is just basically a resistor in a box "tricking" the ECM into reading a colder IAT setting and changing the fuel delivery.

Still, if he has a Termi system at a reasonable price then I guess that's OK.. Bu the Erik Buell Racing system is cheaper and I'd much rather give Erik the money (if I had it).

The Termi system has less ground clearance than the Erik Buell Racing one (shouldn't be an issue on the street but worth considering for a track bike)..

I suspect the Pegasus guys use the Erik Buell Racing stuff because Erik Buell Racing built their bikes.

When Erik Buell Racing did the build on my DSB-Spec club racer for this year, they specified the Erik Buell Racing race pipe. They know it, have kit to support it, and know how to extract the most out of it. So, I'm happy to have spent my money on it.

I'm sure the Termi is nice (their stuff always is, really), but support is part of the package, too.

Very long primary pipes before the Y-pipe into the muffler.

There were some bikes equipped with Termig in Euro Sound of Thunder, and we know who won that title!

Termignoni has made some great products for many different applications over the years, I would bet the 1125 offering from them is no exception!

I have a Duc with a Termi on it. Termignoni to Ducati is like Yosh to Suzuki, Muzzy to Kawasaki. Thier quality is very good, however it is not on the level of Akropovic in my opinion. The sound on a Ducati is magic and is amoung the best in motorcycling.

no one can really compete with akrappovic at the moment, they even have the facilities to make their own ti tube whereas if i wanted some i'd be limited to what you can get off the shelf without buying 100s of metres of the stuff, having said that i've managed to get enough to make a ti silencer and inlet pipe for my 1125

Can't argue with Akrapovic's success, but the tests that have been done with Akrapovic slated against several of the other exhaust manufacturers has shown some less than positive results for Akrapovic, at least the tests I have seen, but the name is out lasting any test.

What is really surprising to me, is with Akrapovic being so self serving in their exhaust building process, I don't understand why their costs are so high...I assume when you are at the top of the game, different rules can apply...

Nothing to do with being at the top of the game. Ti prices vary a lot, if there's a shortage, it skyrockets, which makes it difficult to manufacture anything and keep a stable price for the end consumer. Akropovic controls the costs as much as they can by doing what they do, manufacture it or buy in massive quantities to keep costs in line. They've got a pretty kick butt hydroform bender also from what I understand.

Typical pricing on 304 stainless, 1.5" is about $7.50/foot. The same thing in Ti, $38-40 average for grade 9. Now go up to 2" or 2.5" in stainless, it goes to $8.50 and $10.50/foot. I haven't even _found_ any Ti over 1.5" OD yet, but it's exponentially worse for cost. Just for reference, going from 1" to 1.5" in Ti, I think the cost doubles. I'm sure if you shop around you can find it, but it's a heck of a lot more expensive than stainless. Getting it bent costs a fortune also, then you've got the welding costs. Stainless, it's forgiving and you can get away with a lot. Ti on the other hand, enclosed weld chamber is a must if you want it done right. It has to be big enough to weld the parts in and argon isn't cheap to fill the welding box.
The last place I worked at had weld chambers that measured 2.5' x 3' x 3' and they were small. The big ones you could walk into, ie; 8' tall and more than 10' wide and deep. Now, imagine filling one of those boxes with argon, weld a couple of parts, then open the box to get the parts out. Next batch, do it over again. It ain't cheap to do it. Period.

i got a little lucky as we had some free issue 60mm dia ti tube at work when we made some prodrive group n imrezza systems, so i have a couple of bends i can use plus some ti sheet and endplates

The race at Assen we took the victory with a combination of the Erik Buell Racing system with an aditional Termignoni Ti-can from an XB because of noise regulations.

The Erik Buell Racing system worked fine, Termignoni makes good exhaustsystem for sure too...

D adams,
Yeah I understood all of that prior to my comments, titanium costs and involvement, but where does the justification of the cost of Akrapovic's slip-on exhaust systems compared too others come from...Their prices seem higher when using the same design and materials?
By the tests I have seen, they do not surpass the levels of quality and performance that the others are offering either!
Not an Akrapovic hater, just sharing some info I have read...

Jens,
I was looking for the picture, I knew it existed, but I could not find it anywhere, so I did not comment or post without the picture...Thank you for bringing it up though...Could you post that pic if you still have it, I thought the picture was on your site, the Termignoni looked great on the R in my opinion?

Thank you Jens, that is actually the one I was referring to...Yes I agree, that looks really good on the R in my opinion, certainly not street bike friendly though, of course why would it be...
