I'm assuming this is the right area for this post. Here's the problem -- I like leather. I have some really good gear now, and I wear it all the time. It's almost all leather, and it's black. I didn't worry about visibility too much because my bike was neon yellow; I looked like a bumble bee. Now I have a new bike.... What can I do? What kinds of products are out there? I'm putting the reflective tape on the bike, but what about my jacket? What about my pants? The jacket is water proof, thick leather with armor, and ran me about $400. I don't want to ruin it, and I really like it. I don't mind taking it to a tailor and forking over $100 to have them sew something into it....but what do I have them do? I've considered buying a pull over type vest, but I really don't want to have to depend on me doing that every morning when I go to work. And yes I have been here: http://www.highviz.org/ But most of their stuff is "buy it right the first time". I'm looking for a unique solution here. Help! If I was going the tailor route I would have them put a stripe across the lower/upper back and down each arm/leg. Sewn on decals or stripes are done fairly cheap from an embroidery shop. There is some darker color reflective material they can sew on that should not offset the all black look too much. |

Will that work? I'm worried it'll make me leak -- I usually get caught in the rain once a month, sometimes more -- or ruin the jacket. I don't mind if the jacket remains all black, as long as whatever I add to it looks "normal". |

I keep my vest on my jacket at all times,.. the only time it comes off is when I switch to a different jacket. I like the tape idea but you might want to try a bicycle shop that has reflective headbands and legbands. But then you'd have to R&R those i think. I'd go with a vest. On days you want to be "cool" you dont have to wear it. |

Also... if you can tolerate it,.. put some type of reflective tape on ur helmet too. |
