I chose to run WERA in 2009 because 4 of 7 events were at my home track (Jennings) which is 2 hours away. CCS had more races, but all were further away, with the exception of Daytona. I ran CCS for Daytona only. I like WERA better (probably cause I raced with them more). CCS does have more Buell friendly classes. IN the end it would probably boil down to which org runs more races in your geographical area. |

I don't think WERA comes near enough to Dirty Jersey. I would sure like to do some endurance stuff if they ever do come this way. I saw a couple of old Triumphs and Nortons at NJMP with WERA stickers on them so I asked the boys what was up. They said they are sort of scouting out the track and going to report back to Mr.Big. I would figure that if the AMA comes here to NJMP they should figure it's a decent set up. Maybe they were seeing how many people were around to see if it would be worth doind whatever they would need to to break in to this area. |

Good thread! Though I don't race, I hope to if race at some point in 2012 for sure. The crazy thing is WERA doesn't really run around the Chicago land area. There are tracks with in a few hours;however, nothing worth doing on a finical and weekend basis for me. I know a guy that runs WERA but he always ends up driving out to Michigan and what not. Honestly it would cost to much and be to far from me to journey out there and other places like Ohio more often then not. The closest club racing event is at Blackhawk farms raceway. It is roughly 1.5 hours from me IN traffic. If I forgot something or didn't want to sleep at the track/hotel overnight I could turn right around or stay with family in the more immediate area. This year they will be racing there in May,July,August, and September. So if I didn't want to travel to Topeka or Road America I could still get my fix in just about every month. Now again although I don't race (YET), I do feel location is probably the more important factor in club racing. Beyond that it is a money pit that your meant to have fun at doing. Pure and simple, free and clear. I'm just trying to see how I can get the biggest bang for my buck and I'm sure I'm not alone. I would love to hear of the true pros and cons of club racing in ether event. Does WERA offer purse money for winning 1st, 2nd, or 3rd at the end of the year? |

For me it came down to location. I have Grattan, Gingerman, Mid-Ohio, Nelson Ledges, and Beaverun all within 4 hours of me. All WERA tracks. Also, I think the WERA nationals attract more top AMA talent, that's a plus just for the entertainment factor. |

I have been racing WERA exclusively for the last 10 years. Daytona was always unkind to me and I like the way WERA runs their weekends better than the Florida CCS region. This will be my first year on the XB though. |
