Hey All, Just started getting interested in looking for a 2000+ X1 Lightning. I remember when I first got my new XB12Ss in 2006 seeing a beautiful white X1 in the dealership that had what I remember as a purple frame. Since I've started looking at used X1's I've found a lot of Arctic White's with Nuclear Blue frames but not any that look conclusively like a purple frame to me. Am I misremembering seeing a purple framed white X1? Are the purple frames I'm seeing in internet pics really Nuclear Blue w/bad color correction? The Nuke Blue is gorgeous but if purple exists that's what I'll try to find. First love and all that. Thanks, Nels |

I think you are probably remembering the nuke blue as purple - it may have been the light on it. But yeah, you can't beat a Parkway Blue S2(t) for purple!

Oh my. That is gorgeous. Never had colors like that on the XB's and 1125's. Thanks guys for pointing out that I was either smoking a very good grade of crack that day many years ago or that my wife is right and I AM crazy. Nels |

The nuke blue looks purple in low light. My friends always bust on me for having a purple bike. I think its pretty damn cool take a look here for a shot from two angles. The bike is blue when there's lots of light, purple when there isn't |

Thanks for the pics of the great looking bikes! That Nuclear Blue frame is hot. I feel much better now. I wasn't crazy! I DID see purple! I was just uneducated. I'm with Mbsween, the purple aspect is waaay friggin' cool. Want. Hard. The search begins... Nels |

Recently NASA and the Smithsonian Institute concluded a study that proved that the X1 was actually the consummate Buell. You are hereby cleared for takeoff. Pursue your X1 dream. Be happy. |

the frame and wheels are what I get the most compliments on.. and they're damn near the only parts that are 100% untouched since rolling off the factory floor.

Phillip, stop showing off!! You've got the nicest X1 I've ever seen. If mine looked anywhere as nice as yours, it would live in my living room with a spot light aimed right at it... |

I should do a better pic of this, but in my humble opinion, there are some striking things that can be done with the X1 as some of these other photo's attest. I have the now no longer produced Trojan aluminum underseat tray, the 1250 kit, Penske shock, race ecm, etc. The stock seat is next on my list for replacement if I don't sell it to fund an S2. Kalali, I'm sorry to announce that "Betty" got tipped over earlier in the summer. Damage is minimal, and is currently being repaired. Needless to say, I'm no longer dating the young lady that dropped her I figure there are more fish in the sea than there are X1's to go around.. |

"I'm no longer dating the young lady that dropped her..." Well, that would teach her... Glad damage was minimal. |

Aaarggh! You guys are killing me. I'm sold already, just gotta find the perfect one. Question though: If I find a Nuclear Blue frame with other than white bodywork, pretty easy swap? I'm guessing chin spoiler, front fender, flyscreen, and tank cover? Since I'm looking for a 2000+ no problem w/fitting a '99 tank cover with the intake vent? Thanks, Nels |

It should not be. I Mine is a 2002 and it has the vents. I don't know if any modifications were done since that is the way I bought it. |

BTW, those 1999 vents don't actually lead anywhere. They were just a styley-thing. |

99 Tank cover with the "nostrils" will fit any other year X1 no problem. My 2002 has a 99 tank cover. I got it new from a dealer probably 3 years ago. Around $150 for one with only primer.

Hmmm.... I wonder if you could install a pair of air horns in there! Kinda pointed up into your face though |

I've never seen horns small enough that would fit back there. There is ample space between the tank and the cover to sneak some wiring up there though. I installed UV lights behind the nostrils in mine, that's why the tank is painted white. |

I am also fond of the Nuke Blue/purple Anyone know what a good color code match for Nuke Blue is? |

Nuke Blue is a powder coat finish! In the UK it is a popular wheelchair colour. I have a touch up bottle of nuke blue and I have tried to get a match out of PPG, but they would not give it up! Darren |

Forerunner, interested in a project? I've got a clean Nuclear Blue 2000 X1 frame hanging from the ceiling in my den. I've never really considered selling it, but I guess I could for the right price. |

Pk, Thanks for the offer but I'm looking for something a little more motorcycle-shaped. Besides, if I bought it from you I would just end up hanging it on a wall somewhere as art. Nels |
