so i was looking over my headlights with the covers off because i was changing out my markers from the 5 led that burnt out. any how i was looking at the covers and noticed some discoloration of the lens on the low beam side. well i fired up my lights and noticed that there was a greenish tinge to the light as i looked down at the bottom of the reflector. sunglasses on i got to looking more closely and saw that the silver coating on the reflector is being eroded/boiled off revealing the greenish plastic beneath it. can someone go check that out and see if it is happening to them too? i'm guessing if i want this fixed my hid's will have to come off so they don't trip on them. |

Just checked mine and they are not doing that.. I'd definately take the HIDs off before going to a dealer though.. Just out of interest what wattage and heat rating are the HID you have? |

Sorry maybe heat rating was the wrong choice of words - how about colour temperature? (6800K for example) |

because if i didn't even though they'd prolly be wrong they'd blaim it on the mod and deny the warranty claim |

+1 I wouldn't give them ANY excuse to suggest that a modification had caused the defect. It'd be down to you to prove it hadn't, especially as it is widely accepted that HID lamps run hotter than their halogen counterparts... |

it is widely accepted that HID lamps run hotter than their halogen counterparts... But they don't! Quite the opposite, in fact! (Message edited by Tippster on January 05, 2011) |

HID bulbs are longer. They put more heat up near the lens. |

If you are not successful on your warranty claim, I suggest buying a headlight assembly from Erik Buell Racing. This has to be cheaper than ordering from dealer: http://www.EBRacing.com/shop/product122.html |
