M2's (all years, pre 99 have the smaller tank 99+ have the larger Manta tank also found on the S1W and the S3), S3's (98 only) and S1's (96-98). Dinuns response is correct, this is just a little extra data for clarity. |

>>> What years fit my bike (1997 M2)?" Let's start with what models/years will match your 1997 Cyclone's four gallon fuel tank. That would be the following: 1996 - 1998 S1 tanks 1997 & 1998 M2 tanks The five gallon tanks used on carbureted tuber models will fit, but they are significantly larger and massively alter the look and feel of the bike. Those models include the following: 1998 S1W White Lightnings 1997 & 1998 S3/S3T Thunderbolts 1999-2001 M2 Cyclones I personally prefer the smaller tank. I never did get used the the larger front-heavy look and feel of the bigger tank when I was riding a 2000 model Cyclone. |

i prefer the small tanks on the s1's also, but i do think the manta tanks look neat in their own right. if i come across one for a deal, that still has decent paint i'll eventually hang one on the wall just to admire lol. ive come across some at good prices, but just dont want to have to put new paint on a wall hanging! |

Oops, thanks for the correction Blake, I had not realized the '97 S3 Manta tank was also out there. (Okay, so really I thought the S3 wasn't around until 98). Tim, I feel the same about that tank, and many other bike bits produced by Buell over the years. Garage art for sure. |

The S2 fuel cell fits, though it forces the front of the seat up a little. |

Ohhh I'm gunna love it here on this site with all the accumulated knowledge!!! This sorta stuff is just what I wanta know and why I joined up. Being outside the States makes parts etc hard/expensive to source, expert info is thin on the ground so getting it right first time round and not having to deal with "no it alls" is going to make life a lot easier in the future. |
