Well, I finally had time to resize all the pictures i took of the bike and parts. We'll start with the tear-down and discoveries. Here is all the damage that was done to the bike.
I t-boned the car head on at 25mph.
The bike ended up on the right pod so, it got rashed (THE POD COVER IS ALSO UP FOR GRABS)
The puck got a little scuffed also, but nothing too bad.
View from rider position forward on the left side. The entire headlight assembly got destroyed.
Right side view from rider position
Also broke the lower front fairing mount stays, here is the left side Here are all the new goodies that i got for her (Toothless, since someone wanted to point out the similarity, thats her name)
Hero Blue Windscreen, Front Fairing, both Turn Signal/Mirrors, Headlight Assembly, Front Fairing Mount, Front Forks, Erik Buell Racing Barker Tune ECM, Oil Filter, Noid Plug (didnt know i DIDNT need this with new ECM), and aluminum Barker's Exhaust.
Also got an HID kit for the low beams. Now for the Story First off, a few months back I was still stressing over why the bike wouldnt start after the wreck and then saw a thread about if the lights fuse was pulled, the bike wont start. Well, the first thing i looked at was the fuse and this is what i saw.
After i replaced the fuse and STILL couldnt get it started, so i looked a little deeper. I noticed that the connector for the right hand controls was completely gone, just stripped from the connector and the pins were all that was left. So a quick trip to wally world i got some connectors and tried putting it together myself. This is what i ended up doing.
Well, i put them in the wrong order so it still didnt work. After a lot of headache, i finally gave up and sent her away. And thats the story so far. The dealership still doesnt have the part in even though they said it was shipped on the 18th, so still waiting for it to come in and them to get back to work on her. As for the parts that are going to everyone, here are pictures of the items. It might be after new years before i get to ship them out since i'm going to iowa for the holidays and wont be back until the 10th, and it looks like the bike isnt gonna be running before i leave on Friday. Don, dont have a picture of the ECM, sorry, but there is nothing wrong of it. Kerry, here is a few pics of the mirror. only thing wrong with it is the LITTLE scuff on the end, and i dont have the nuts for it, other than that, great shape.
Robert, here are a few pics of the fairing. I didnt look at it closely until i took the pictures. It has a little more rash than i thought, but i think enough elbow grease will get it out.
and Finally, Brice, here are pics of the exhuast. I'll wipe it down before i ship it so it's nice and clean when it gets to you. I can't find your address, so if you could shoot me another e-mail with it that would be great.
JUST TO LET EVERYONE KNOW If anyone wants the right pod cover, let me know. As with all the other items, it will be completely free. Everyone here on BadWeb as been such a great help in the past and have been great support, so this is my way of giving back to the great people that decide to ride these amazing bikes and support an amazing man, Erik. |

Not yet. I'm probably gonna call the dealership around noon here and find out if the part came in. I'm hoping they get it running today, otherwise it wont be until the 11th i can get it. And the pod is yours Tim. I might just run to the dealership sometime today and see if i can take that pod off the bike, forgot i left that one on. If it fits in my backpack i'll bring it back to iowa with me tomorrow. |

Damn! I just missed out on the exhaust. I would have been all over that. Welcome back and thank you for your service to your country. If you're in San Diego, you really should have San Diego Buell take care of your bike. They know Buells inside and out. |

IT'S RUNNING AND HOLY IT'S LOUD! Barely got to the dealership before they closed and picked her up. Since I didn't have ANY of the plastics on her, i had to sit there in their parking lot for about 30 minutes putting EVERYTHING back on her. The HID kid is AMAZING. I turn the highs on (just stock bulbs) and cant even notice them. And the exhaust, turn the key, heard the deep sound and then it caught and started. I am amazed at how loud this thing is. Take an XB with a Jardine and you wouldnt even be able to hear it over this pipe, JUST WOW. I had to ride it about 30 miles home from the dealership with the front end miss-aligned, I had my handle bars turning to the left just to go straight. When i was riding it home, the power is just amazing. I was in 6th gear going about 70ish on the freeway, and it was at about 4k RPM. i figured i would see how easy it would be to go up to 100mph, so without shifting down i just hit it and within 2 seconds, i was at 100. the power gain is just awesome with the ECM/Pipe combo. I would recommend it to anyone. I'm heading to iowa for 3 weeks starting tomorrow morning so i wont be able to fix the front end until i get back. But when i do, she will have new forks put on her, and a new oil change with filter. I cant wait to ride this thing all the time again. One last thing, going about 70-75 it was reading out about 38-40mpg on the instant screen. I'm happy with that number for how much more power i have with it when i want to use it. PS: Tim, i'm bringing the pod cover home with me tomorrow and will probably drop it off sometime while i'm home. |

First of all, I like rice. Secondly, I'll take the pod cover if no one else desperately needs it even though I've been of exactly zero use to you in this endeavor. Of course it makes far more sense to give it to someone who has provided valuable advice and information.
