So i just replaced my head gasket on my X1 along with some other maintenance. after I put every thing back together is where the trouble starts. after resetting the tps I tried starting the bike, it ran extremely bad so i shut it off. i found unless the bike is in neutral or if the clutch is pulled in when i turn the key, the fuel pump wont prime and the engine light doesnt come on. with ecm spy every thing seemed to check out but as soon as i change in to gear it acts as if the bike is no longer conected. after the bike is in gear and i pull the clutch it acts as if i just turned the key and the fuel pump primes and the engine light turns on for a little bit. when i let the clutch out ecmspy no longer recognizes a connection. i was able to rotate the engine to tdc and according to ecm spy it is no longer has the proper timing. i think it is computer related but I'm not sure and im lost on what to do next. any help would be greatly appreciated |

Might be the battery is going or just needs a good charge. Battery voltage is very important when it comes to electronics. |

About grounds. If you haven't checked it already, check the ground that goes between the swing arm and the frame. IIRC, it's a braided ground loom. The connection works loose over time. Check your fuse box too. Pull each out, relays too, and check for corrosion. Depending on where the bike lived before you got it, there may be more problems lurking than noted in your profile. Great picture of you, the bike, and your "neck of the woods" in the background. Merry Christmas! (Message edited by two_seasons on December 24, 2010) |
