What is it when the tack needle flashes, I noticed it a few times when the speed indicator would go to 0, about a min or so after. I started it today just to run it, its been too cold to ride " 23 F ", when i reved it a little say 4-5K the need would start to blink. What is it? |

It's a shift light, when cold it'll do that at 4-5K to warn you not to rev the engine like that when cold.. Later it'll change colour much higher up the range (10500 ish) |

It's your redline indicator. The engines don't like to be free-revved, especially when cold, so the computer lights the shift light sooner. Warmed up and in gear, it will light up around actual redline (10,500). I believe it's in your owners manual, too... |

it will also do it if the VSS isn't working right and the bike thinks you're not moving.... |

It's funny, after riding this thing for over a year, I have yet to actually see the needle light up. I'm generally too busy trying to keep my head on my shoulders while keeping an eye out for cops. It is probably also that it isn't very bright and I almost never look at my tach except on long, long stretches of straight road. |

My VSS isn't work properly, speed indicator will flash 0 to 60 or whatever speed I'm doing Is it replacing the VSS or might there be debris on the sensor, your saying that may be the cause for the tack needle flashes |

The VSS error can be a couple of things. For me the sensor needed to be replaced. For others, it is a loose wire. A search for "VSS" "spedo error" should give you more details on how to get it fixed. If the bike believes it is not moving but the tach is reading 4-5k, it will flash because it thinks you are revving the motor with no load on it. |
