I know this has been talked about a few times being we cant get the Buell select seat. I've post interest in all the group buys that have tried to happen, but never did. I'm trying to see what my options are for one now and any feedback that someone has on them. I know that Corbin and Baldwin make them, but is there any others out there? Thanks in advance for helping me spend my money. |

Sure...modify the one you have to suit your desires...! Not a big deal. I had two done by an auto reupholsterer. One was 90 bucks, one was 110 bucks because I wanted something more than the first one. Mike |

+1 on finding someone local who will do the work...You can have a near hands on build with the upholsterer of your choice. |

Might have to try that, Maybe score another seat pan and do some looking around. Thanks for the idea. |

Db - If you've spent any time on a Japanese sport bike, you might notice the "odd" slope to the Buell seat. That it is in fact backward...! Both the seats I had done have the front of the seat lowered...so as I lean forward to the handle bar, my "bits" (as the English call em!), don't get squished any more. The new angle is similar to the angle of the bike. Go find an R1, GSXR, etc. to sit on to feel the difference. Mike |

That is good info 1 mike...the first thing I have noticed, or have read, on the Buell seat is the custom builders remove foam from the front and add some to the rear of the pan...which reverses the seating position to a more conventional sport bike position, while adding additional padding or foam for comfort. This method also seems to reduce the seat height some in most cases on the Buell seat too. |

Just took the wifes electric carver to a spare seat I picked up. Just doing a 'cut seat' for dragracing- as low as possible, with a stop in the rear section. Shaping came out great- now I just have to be careful and creative with the staplegun to get a tight fit with the cover, Then, most likely, take the seat to an upholstery shop to get it fixed LoL |

Depends on it you are looking for a custom look seat or just a more comfortable one. If you are trying to improve the comfort, I highly recommend Spencer Seats. They use your seat pan and cover and replace the OEM foam with theirs. A couple years ago I was looking at a more comfortable option for me SV650 seat and did a lot of online research and decided on Spencers. I was VERY pleased with the improvement over OEM and it was very affordable, with quick turn around. http://greatdaytoride.com/Home_Page.php I must point out that I am affiliated in no way, whatsoever. |

Satisfied Baldwin customer here. Looks great, feels great. I scored a seat with a torn cover at my local dealer and sent that in as my core. |

Xnoahx, I agree. I have a comfort seat also and it is a comfort improvement over the OEM, but it is not great. A little too firm and I am not a fan of how much higher you sit with the comfort seat. For riders wanting more leg room, this would be a good thing, but I like to sit "in" a bike, not so much "on" it. I went back to the OEM seat for now. I may have Spencers mod my OEM when I get around to it. |

I have a comfort seat that mainly lives on my Firebolt except I switch to the 1125R for touring. It's good for that - makes a difference of about 40km distance before I feel the pain and I can go a lot further between stops after the second or third tank full. I like the firm padding. For mountains and hanging off the bike it is too wide at the front for me. I can't get my legs gripping the frame and I can't move around on it as easily. I corner more easily on the stock seat. American Sport Bike were going to have a go at getting some made to the original spec. Anyone know how that's going? If they do I'd pick up a second one. |

I checked with Spencers as it sounded like a great deal and I live in FL, but unfortunately they cannot help now: "Due to the overly thin foam base at the rear of the R model seat I am simply not happy with what little can be done with these seats so am no longer accepting this model for modification. I am sorry that I cannot help but appreciate the inquiry. Have a great holiday, Spencer" I'd like to use my R for sport touring. I start to hurt after 60 miles. I guess I'll use a gel pad I bought at a MC show for now. |

Here is another option. http://www.therohostore.com/Products/AIRHAWK-Seat- Cushion---Medium-Cruiser-Seating-System-wCover__CR UISERMEDIUM.aspx I just got one for xmas for my Uly. It took away all of the pressure points and made the bike feel so much more comfortable. It doesn't effect seat height because you air it up, sit on it and release air until you are almost sitting back on the seat. They are kind of ugly (even with the cover on) but if you want comfort, this may be a good option. |

Here is a fellow Buell Enthusiast that makes seats for our bikes.... The prices are for customizing your stock seat. We do have a seat core exchange program that requires an additional $60 deposit. Make the core deposit when placing your order and we build on our stock seat. Ship the new saddle to you and once you receive the new saddle you ship your stock seat in to us. Once we receive your stock seat we refund the $60 core deposit. We do not have any completed saddles in stock. Each saddle is custom made to order taking into account rider weight, and build. Thanks for the interest and let me know if we can help with anything else and hope to see you in the UP of Michigan next summer. Baldwin Motorbike Saddles did a build up of the saddle for my R last year and it has simply made a world of difference. A 300 mile trip with the stock saddle left me pretty uncomfortable. I now do 500+ miles with the Baldwin saddle in relative comfort and am still able to walk the next day. :-) Two thumbs up as far as I am concerned! |

great foam and adhesive -use the 1/2" raw foam for a "seat" on race bikes - thinking about re-doing my 1125r's with a piece 2" thick and some shaping http://store.noc.com/Canoe-Outfitting/Search |

Well, from what I've read...if you can identify what you don't like about the seat you have, and where you don't like it, Baldwin can make a seat to specifically address those issues. |

I have a Baldwin seat on my Uly. Also got an OEM but it hangs on the wall. I've put 7-8k miles on that seat since May, rode it to and from Homecoming this Summer. Loren makes a very comfortable perch, my butt has been happy every one of those miles. Just from my experience with this one seat, I recommend his work. He started doing a backrest for his wife, IIRC, 2 or 3 years ago; big thread on Old School. Funny how businesses start. Zack |

Anybody have input on the Corbin? |

Regarding the Corbin. I have one on my CR, and really like it. It is a hard seat, but the shape is what seems to make it more comfortable than the stock seat. It is also 1 to 1.5 inches lower than stock too. |
