I have an opportunity to purchase a 2008 1125R. The bike has under 14k miles on it. The owner has given me a peek of all the bike’s service receipts. I have also been trolling BWB to get an idea of known trouble spots for the 2008 1125R’s. Below is the list of things the bike has received from the dealership: ECM re-flash dated 12/08 Kickstand mechanism recall Rear caliper, rotor, master cylinder replaced Rear brake line relocated Replaced Clutch cover & components (it was leaking) Replaced clutch hydraulic piston and sleeve Re-sealed Neutral indicator switch Rear valve cover replaced (it was leaking) Instrument Cluster replaced Turn Signals replaced Other items done: 12,500 mile major service including valve adjustment New fork seals and fluid New Pirelli Corsa III’s New Battery (the defective instrument cluster drained the battery until it died completely) Is there anything else the bike needs that has not been done in the above list? My friend assures me the bike runs like a top and is 100% reliable. I haven’t seen nor ridden the bike since it was new back in November 2008. I plan on taking a close look at the bike and riding it next weekend. What other things do I need to look out for while I have the bike for an extended test ride? After all this work, the bike should be reliable for a long period. That is my assumption. Thoughts from other 2008 1125R owners on this board? Thanks in advance for the advice. One last thing: I am currently an owner of a Buell XB12R Firebolt so I am familiar with the XB models. I have also ridden this 1125R a few times so I am also familiar with this bike's performance. |

The only other issue that may or may not come up is the speedometer cutting out. It usually happens in high temperatures and is erratic if it happens or not. Sometimes the cause is the instrument cluster sometimes its the sensor itself. |

My last re-flash was done in February 2010, but I believe it was released in Sept. 2009. If yours doesn't have that one you will DEFINITELY want it. It smoothed out the low end surging a ton. |

Rogue, The easy and sure thing to do would be to take the VIN to your local dealer and ask them to run an SWR on it, any open or completed campaigns that the bike is entitled to based on production will show up in the system. Mine is an early 08 and it required the Jiffy stand, Front brake line, Fuel vent tube and the latest ECM reflash. I hope that helps a bit. Mark |

Definitely check your local Buell shops. When you find one you like, ask them to check the ECM Rev with their Digital Tech. The latest flash for all years 1125 is the best OEM map for fuel/spark. Without a doubt. make sure the Active Air Solenoid is physically disconnected from the throttle linkage. (do a search for "noid") Also, when doing the solenoid, tie the throttle plates together with a wire or zip-ty. Don't give the throttle too big of a twist when in a hard turn. Mine is the first 1125 in Colorado, she has ~26k miles, I consider her very reliable and would NOT hesitate to take her on a roadtrip, anytime I can get off.. Welcome to BWB Zack |

Rogue, just out of curiosity what dealer had worked on the bike? Same one you have used for your other Buell? I'm in central Cal and am still to determine what dealer to use. One I bought from is not 1125 trained. |

Duphuckincati, the dealership that has worked on this particular 1125R is San Diego H-D/Buell, perhaps the best Buell dealer in SoCal. Everyone seems to know and so they have a 2-3 week backlog on work during the summer! |
