Same here Julie. Always good to see you and Dan. Julie, how-about that Jimmy Johnson this year winning 5 in a row. Not much new here on Colorado badweb I guess. Hope everyone is doing well!
Yeah, Jimmy Johnson did great this year. Can't wait for the start of the next Nascar season. Would love to go to one of the races sometime. That would be a blast.
Oh Yeah!!!!! John, we finally found an upgrade to our little toy hauler. We are trading it in and picking up a new, bigger one. Nothing fancy, very basic but bigger. We're planning on a two week trip next summer so this will be perfect. I'll get pics up later.
I just got back from a dual-sport ride today. Had a really nice ride on the Yamaha WR. Very little traffic out so was able to just take my time and enjoy the day. I rode over to Golden then up golden gate canyon to Robinson hill turn off, over to clear creek canyon then up Floyd hill over to evergreen and down the canyon. 52 miles total. Not too many Dec. 25ths you can do that with out snow up there and cold temps. Hope all had a Merry Christmas.
Dan and I are planning on taking a nice ride down to Palmer Lake tomorrow, Sunday. It's suppose to be in the low 50's again. Will get the heated gear out. Would have gone out today but had to do some cooking for Christmas. Had my son and his girlfriend over tonite. It was really nice. It's really different eating for the holidays now that we are about 98% vegan.
We had a very Merry Christmas. Glad you had a nice ride today John. I'm jealous that you live so close to the hills.
Great pic's Frank. Was thinking about you guys and last year. It was a whole lot colder and whiter. It does look like you had a great time out there.
Took a nice ride today down to Palmer Lake and guess what??????? Both the engine light and battery light came on. My baby has now joined to crowd of "gone to the dogs" stator. At least we made it home. The battery was reading 9.0 as we drove down the driveway.
Oh such fun. I think we're going to try to buy a new, better stator rather than take it to the dealer so it can go back and forth to be fixed. You know about that huh, Jody?
I must say I was very happy to make it home. A true blessing, Thank you Lord
Julie - sorry to hear of this last night, but I'm not surprised. I think you're on the right track to just replace with parts that have a chance of working, not the same thing that's there now. As of now, that is Eloy's only option, warranty R&R stator rotor with the same 09+ parts.
If it were me, I'd just get an 08 stator/rotor pair and replace what's there with those early rev. parts. You need both parts, but they will fit in your cover. 09+ covers were opened up a bit on a mill to accept the larger rotor so 09 parts won't fit in an 08 cover. The direction you want to go works fine tho.
The 08 setup put out a little less, but no troubles like the 09+ system. Riding Loretta these days while I prep and do The Beast's 20k service and she is running GREAT. Very happy your 11 loves you and got you home!
Hey Julie, you can get the 2008 stator parts directly from Erik Buell Racing. They should have them in stock.
I missed you and Dan yesterday. I am back for my 2 week R&R and took a 3 hour ride yesterday...ending up at Palmer lake around 2:30. Since I have been gone I still only have about 2000 miles on my 1125R...stator is still fine, but I have never been happy about the so called charging system "upgrade" as my GPS keeps shutting down every time I come to a stop and the voltage drops below around 12.1. I'm not sure if I will use my 7 year warranty and have HD fix it when it does fail...or just fix it right myself like you might do. I am kind of hoping that HD finally decides to address this issue and come up with a real solution.
Yesterday I rode my new (to me) 2008 Ulysses that my wife bought for me back in October. I wanted a second Uly so that I can do some longer family trips with my son...and I ended finding a deal that my wife could not resist (with my encouragement). So yesterday morning I installed the comfort kit and some throttle lock bar ends...and took her for a good ride. I am surprised that at only 6000 miles it has the pulsating front rotor thing...but everything else is perfect!
Zack and I are now almost twins!
I plan to ride it to NJ in May when I return from Iraq...then fly Sean out there to ride my red Uly back with me from my brothers. My wife plans to tag along on the back with me...at least on the way back from NJ.
If the weather continues to hold up...maybe I will be able to meet up with some of you all for a ride before I head back overseas on the 4th.
Steve, we were in the Palmer Lake area around the same time you were. Bummer we didn't connect. Glad you got home. I think we will be ordering the stator from ebr. I just don't want to mess around with having to continue to fix it like some other folks have had to do (like Jody )
Enjoy your R&R and family and have a very Happy New Year. Hope to ride with you when you're back home.
Another nice day for a ride on the WR today. Someday I will ride the Buell again. With all the sand and stuff on the roads in the canyons and around town, I just feel so much more secure on the dirtbike than the Buell this time of year on the roads.
We're out here, it's just cold LOL. Dan's been doing some detective work on my bike. So far, the relay was shot and he thinks that the voltage regulator may be fried. The testing he's done on the stator indicates that it's OK. So, we ordered a VR from Al at American Sport Bike and it's due to be here on Monday. So.......we'll see. I'm praying that's all it is.
Glad you had some nice days out there John. I would be on my dirt bike too this time of year. It doesn't take much sand to lay a bike done. Any pic's?
I was in your neck of the woods on Wed, Jody. I though about calling you but I was on a time crunch. I may be back there soon tho. Doing some chart reviews at some of the doctors in Canon City.
Hope everyone is staying warm and looking forward to spring to get the new travel trailer out on the road. (hopefully gas doesn't get up to $5/gal)
Jody, next time I'm in Canon City I'll call you the night before to see if we can get together
We got the voltage regulator and it's ready to be installed. BUT...I couldn't talk Dan into putting it in last night cause it was too cold in the garage. Bummer. Well, it's too cold to ride anyway LOL
