I am looking for people who have polished the lip's on their wheels. I want to do it myself and don't want to go awry. I want to remove the paint on the inside of the rim where the bead of the tire sits and possibly polish the lip but want to lean from others experience. What was the process you followed and what would you do different? Thanks, Bart |

I've been wondering the exact same thing! Tire shops have already chipped the crap out of both of mine, figured that might help... |

The lips come paint clean easy. The rest is a nightmare. You will need very stout industrial stripper for the lips. Best way is to just get GSD to do it. Grand stand designs. a sponsor here. the can strip the completely and powder coat them or return bare. they did mine and they don't slack o turn around or coating prep. inside and out is flawless. I'm a picky person on paid for work and it passes my inspection. Mike |

GSD does awesome work. it's powder coat, not paint. the lips are already polished, hence the reason they chip so easily...also the reason that you will be able to strip the paint easily off of them. I can't imagine it being able to happen and look good by simply stripping and polishing the lip... I would think one would need to re coat the color. If it's a solid color, no need to strip the PC from the part getting re coated, a good powder coater can coat right over it. |

I cheated and traded my '04 amber wheels for '03 XB9 silver wheels. See profile pic. I don't have the 1125 anymore, so I may try to do the same for my XT's all black wheels. |
