OK I already bought and installed a Pirelli Corsa III 190/50/17 I am noticing that the scuff pattern is a lot further to the edge than the front. I am doing a track day this weekend did I mess up getting the 190/50 |

no... you didn't mess up... The tire dude at the track swore the Buells would turn in faster with a 190 on the rear instead of a 180.... He wanted me to keep buying tires from him so it was in his best interest to give good info so I would keep coming back. |

I am worried about the difference between the 50 and 55 |

I don't think you have anything to worry about. |

Your fine. Diameter of the 190 is 24.48 in. Diameter of the 180 is 24.795 in. I wouldn't sweat it. |

OK I hope she handles well leaned in so far just the rear showing less side wall worn than the front bothers me a little. from 180/55/17 to 190/50/17 |

The 190 gets pinched tighter than the 180 would on the same wheel. Since that causes the edge of the tread to be at a sharper angle, you'd have to lean the bike farther to get the same chicken strips you would have with a 180. With a 170 on my cast tuber wheels I never have chicken strips, with a 180 I always have about 1/4" left. As far as handling differences, that's all rider preference. IMO, the stock tire size feels a little more stable while upright but one size up makes the bike easier to flick side to side. It all just depends on what you're looking for. |

So if I mount a 100, I can finally not have any chicken strips? |

Pirelli data for the Corsa III lists a 5.5 wheel as acceptable, but a 6.0 wheel as the recommended width. XB wheels are 5.5 |

Is there still a difference in scuff between front and rear? I have stock tire sizes. There is always a strip on the front that never gets used, while the back gets really close to the edge. |

AFAIK, that's cuz you are more agressive exitng a corner than entering. if that makes sense ... i'm sure some one can disprove me. go ahead |

I loved the Corsa III except turn 9 at Jennings on cold tires the bike just fell out from under me |

Thats normal even with a 180. I can get the chicken strips off most rear tires in the rain. The front I have never scrubbed fully, even at the track. |

I imagine it would be possible with a rounder profile tire but I prefer a very angular V shaped front tire. |

I've always like that my stock sizes (180 rear on a Uly) have the rear fully scuffed but just a little (1/8") left on the front. I would rather have the rear run out of tread first than the front, from a rider warning perspective. |
