Has anyone had to pay to fix the clutch weep? I developed the problem again (this is either number 4 or 5!!!), and as my warranty had just expired, the advisor reminded me that my extended warranty has a "deductible" of $50. I wasn't all that put off, but grumbled a little and asked how much it would be to fix it on my own dime. He told me the parts alone were almost $700, and the total was about $1100 plus tax!!! Can anyone confirm that? | ||

$700 is crazy talk! Chicago Harley has the X2086.1AM kit for $208.81, retail is $232. | ||

If you do decide to let extended warranty fix it (which you should) you would not have to pay the deductable on subsequent repairs if it weeps again after this time. | ||

I just purchased a new rev B clutch cover with new puck and all the seals for the clutch piston and cylinder for less than 400. | ||

Yeah, it's already fixed --- for $50. But I also thought that sounded spendy. I don't know about the labor. How many hours did you spend fixing it PMJ? | ||

I may be wrong, but if you have a repeat of the same problem that first appeared under warranty it isn't really fixed. This is exactly what the lemon law addresses. I am pretty sure, if you choose, you can make Harley buy the bike back. If the dealer won't continue to fix it under warranty, contact Harley customer support and tell them your next call will be to your your Attorney General. These are the kind of things class action lawyers love to get hold of. Don't back down and let the dealer tell you it's out of warranty, they probably don't even know the law. Seriously, you should never have to pay to have this fixed. | ||

My extended warranty work for previously addressed items (front rotor) has cost me $0 on subsequent visits for the same thing. YMMV. | ||

Pmjolly, Do you think you could post up a how to with some pics on how to fix the clutch leak, mine already had the leak once, and it was fixed under warranty. But I'm afraid it will break again out of warranty, and i want to be able to fix it my self. | ||

Those of you who are out warranty check with Brumbear. He had some upgraded seals made that fit the OEM parts. There are a few sets out there running around and none of them have had any issues with the new seals. | ||

I purchased a new clutch outer cover. It's the cover with the 'puck' on it. It also has an 1125R decal in an arch at the top. I don't think the sight glass is in that piece. Mine does not have it. I have already replaced the original clutch slave cylinder with the updated clutch kit with new seals, cylinder, and piston. I bought new seals this time just in case anything looks bad when I open it up again to install the new cover. I am actually replacing the cover due to a minor tip over. I never had anymore issues with the clutch leaking. I took pictures when I changed it out originally. It is a pretty easy job. I'll see if I can find the thread. | ||

Here are a few pictures I took when I replaced the clutch slave cylinder, piston, and seals. Today, when I took the old cover off, I went ahead and replaced all the seals with new ones. So what are the benefits, if any, on upgrading to the Rev B cover and the clutch repair kit? Over just doing the repair kit and leaving the Rev A cover on? I have just over 2,000 mile on the 08 I just picked up so I am pretty sure I will get the weep sooner or later. | ||

I got seals made for $8 each and they work great it takes 20 min to change em so Hey Harley  | ||

I would have kept the original Rev A cover for the life of the bike. The clutch repair kit worked fine in it. I needed the new Rev B cover due to a minor tip over in the garage. There was a box end wrench on the clutch bleeder valve when it tipped over on its right side. It bent the bleeder sideways so that the threads began leaking. I had little choice but to replace the cover.  | ||

Well I was out in the garage tonight installing my Evotech Tail Tidy and I look down at the clutch cover and damn if there isn't a small trickle of clutch fluid. I have just over 2200 miles on the bike. I am off to American Sport Bike to order the kit, but just in case it takes a bit to arrive, how long can I ride with it weeping? | ||

I was told by Levi at Latus HD that the cover was beefier. My first impression with the warranty fix: The clutch seemed faster and smoother then, it still does. :-) | ||

The main difference in the Rev B cover is the 'puck' as everyone is calling it. It's the small round plug in the center of the cover that sorta resembles a hockey puck with a pegasus emblem. The old one was plastic. The new one is metal, aluminum maybe. The new puck is also larger diameter. I don't think the new cover is any thicker or heavier. I held them side by side and did not see much difference other than the puck. |
