Just got the exhaust from my CR back from Jet Hot. I'm really pleased with the way it turned out. The pipes and exhaust tips are coated with their Sterling ceramic. The muffler is coated with Sterling and then their black matte ceramic coating.

Nothing against Jet Hot - I've used their services twice myself and am more than pleased - but I found a local place to do the ceramic coating on the 1125 muffler. Can't seem to find (or remember) what it cost, but it was very reasonable.
Bottom line, check around where you are and you may at least save the costs of shipping that heavy muffler.

Two_seasons - Just a wild guess, the blue you see may be fluorescent lighting.

I had Grandstand Designs do the exhaust on my X1, they did good work and are Buell guys themselves. They are also site sponsors and give a discount for Badweb members.

The muffler is matte black. Must be the flash that gave it the bluish tint in the picture. I went to a local powder coater who is also a Jet Hot dealer. I asked them why they didn't do ceramic coating themselves. They said that the equipment was about $60K and as ceramic coating uses silicone, they'd need to change their building to keep the silicone in the air from causing their powder coating to fisheye. Anyway it was $350 including shipping back and forth to NC.

Utesch - tell me more about "I went to a local powder coater who is also a Jet Hot dealer. I asked them why they didn't do ceramic coating themselves. They said that the equipment was about $60K and as ceramic coating uses silicone, they'd need to change their building to keep the silicone in the air from causing their powder coating to fisheye.

I need to know b/c I have arranged with a local powder coat company to put my silicone sprayed stock muffler in his oven. All he has to do is jack up the heat another 100 degrees F or so for 15 minutes. I will spray my own and take it to him to bake.

I'd hate to jack him up unknowingly since he is doing me the favour. Any details would be appreciated.

Thanks

Xodot, don't know about silicon in the ceramic bases, but having worked in GM and Ford plants installing equipment, RTV or anything with silicone in the plant is a huge no-no for the installers if you're near the paint shop. Always felt it was overkill myself, but there's a reason for the policy I guess.
