Wondering if anyone has tried a slip-on 'trumpet/scoop' type setup , and if so- any good results? Seems like it would help, but then again it seems if it was that simple, Mr. Buell would have had it built that way.... | ||

This is an interesting topic. Theres been talk about using ram air and its benefits. All the japanese manufactures seem to use ram air functions. What's also interesting is Erik's new bikes design. I'm not sure if ram air is being used on the new rs. The new downtubes and radiators up front limit the space for the original ram air. So is the rs ram air? Will the new design be compatible? I for one am interested in the parts available through Erik . If they are not compatible with my buell 1125 I'm out. I can't see having a bike in my stable that's obsolete. The specs have not been given as the release date is still in the air. I just hope swingarm setups like their racing ones will be available for a better price. Sorry I went off topic. | ||

The German's 1190RR Typhon has a custom looking air intake scoop that is part of their 'ram air' system. Check 3:52 into the video. | ||

I know in my particular case, it was brought to my attention (by a much smarter/experienced) fellow drag racer, that when we are lowering the noses of our bikes the ram-air intake is being compromised. I was thinking maybe some of the land speed guys had at least tinkered with the idea. | ||

Bott the RR has an enlarged air box and air inlet duct. It is my understanding that the frame has been modified to accept the larger duct. With that said I'd be curious how an air box cover with ram air inlets in it would work if ducted directly to the inner air box cover. In regards to the OEM inlet scoop and lowered bikes, it may be beneficial to fabricate a new scoop that is wider in an attempt to capture more air. The removal of the front fender will help some. | ||

I'm no Master of aerodynamics but I would speculate that having "ram air" scoops on the air box cover are so removed from the high pressure zone of the bike and behind even the CR cowling that they would be useless. The only worthwhile place to have an air-scoop is on the nose of the bike, or maybe just below it as on the stock R and CR bikes. -Tutt | ||

both pegasus race team and mike1125r have an almost XBRR identical setups on 1125's and it looks AWESOME!! pretty good results from what i can remember....mike1125r is puttin down a 9.3 et in the 1/4mi lol Jake | ||

I HAVE ENLARGED MY AIR IN TAKE JUST BUILT IT UP WITH JB WELD AND GROUND IT OUT RAN THIS MOST OF LAST YEAR .MIKE1125R WITH THE SLIGHTLY FASTER 1125R  GAVE ME THE TIP IT WAS A CHEEP MOD TO DO AND HAS GOT TO HELP  | ||

Mike is fantastic with sharing information, first class all the way. Couldn't agree more.  We dragracers are the red-headed stepchildren of the race community of a red-headed stepchild brand of bike. Sticking together really helped me put a Buell in the Winner's Circle in September. |
