I have a question in regards to a battery tender. My Buell sends time in my shed during the cold Jersey winters. Now the shed has no electric in it. My question is can i use an extension cord for my battery tender? Any help would be grateful. |

Just make sure the extension cord can handle the load. Most of your standard extension cords can only handle 10 amps and your battery tender may draw more than that. |

I used to store mine in a shed also, I remove the battery and store in basement with the tender on it! Not on cement floor. |

The tender barely draws over an amp ; remember, it's not a standard 2/10/30 charger so any decent extension cord will work fine. It's fine to place a battery on "concrete". The tale is that the concrete will "suck" the power out but it's simply that concrete is a heat sink and will make the battery colder. Heat the battery back up and it will have its charge back. Keep the charger on it all winter and you'll be fine. |

lol, if your tender draws more than 10 amps, you've not got a tender, you've got a large charger! I also remove my batteries and bring thm inside to be tenderized. |

Yes, just about any extension cord will work fine for your tender. |

I have a question too. The 7.5 amp fuse on the tender plug was blown. I only had 10As in that size on hand and put one in to run my ancient Gerbing vest. Will I be overheating the under seat wire? 2.5A doesn't seem like that much of a bump, but what do I know. XB9SX, by the way. |

You won't overheat anything by using a higher amp fuse unless there's a problem somewhere. You are simply eliminating some of the safety factor that was engineered into the system to prevent damage to the charger, melted wires, fires and that sort of thing. You could eliminate the fuse altogether with no ill-effects at all, until... |
