Nah, spent a nice long weekend teaching my oldest how to care and feed the bikes he wants to ride. The front forks are sorted on the Duc finally. Once the battery is sorted I can get it smogged and registered. |

Got rear-ended today. Waiting for the on ramp light on I10 and I heard tires squealing and coming up fast, managed to start moving a bit before they hit me. Bent my plate and plate reflector crap in half, but no structural damage to speak of. I don't care much about the overblown "immigration" problem here, but it is damn annoying to get hit by someone who can't speak any English whatsoever... Phil |

Did they have insurance? Did they Police come and investigate? It didn't knock you off of the bike? Sounds like you are okay? REX |

I stayed on the bike luckily. They did not have insurance, but I did not call the cops because the damage was insignificant. I was able to bend the plate and holder back, so besides being extremely angry, I'm ok :P Phil |

Have a great December at Chases. I will be in Northern Cal for this coming Monday night. Got the rebuilt S2 back from Jim Higgins. Still some work to do on it, before it is ready to hit the road. I am changing out the body work on the two S2's. Making my main S2 white on white with White wheels. Making the new one, Red on white, with Pm wheels. Picked up a set of forks. I should have enough parts to start on the third S2. I should have everything except the motor. Another project phoenix s2. |

Erik Buell Racing Wish we had a budget to film the story of the birth of the 1190RS. It is truly insanity here. Design, prototype, test, source hundreds of new P/N's, supplier contracts, dealer contracts, non-disclosures, certification paperwork, financials, race team prep, sponsor proposals, etc. Along with Erik Buell Racing parts orders, tech questions, sourcing, shipping. All with about ten people right now. Madness of epic proportions. |

We’ve Been Busy Although there has not been much activity on www.CalistogaFlatTrack.com lately, we have been busy working on a date for the Second Annual Calistoga Half Mile National and at least one other race in NorCal. If you have not been to the website recently take a look frequently as there will be updates regularly. Check It Out! The “Ya’ Suhudda Been There” T-shirt is now available at www.CalistogaFlatTrack.com featuring a Karen Gould, Checkered Flag Photography photo of Stevie Bonsey, the winner of the 2010 event, his first National win!. Also available are the DVD from Chet Burks Productions of the Calistoga Half Mile National show that was aired on MAV TV and a limited number of 2010 Programs and Event and Legends Posters. Rider Travel Fund We got a late start on the Rider Travel Fund (RTF) last year but still managed to raise $3,000 that was paid out to the GNC riders based on how far they traveled. We are starting early this year in the hopes to raise a significant amount. The criteria for the pay out will be different for 2011 and will be announced shortly along with the donation levels and benefits. Currently, proceeds from the sale of the 2010 posters and programs will be allocated to the RTF. GNC Schedule Stay tuned to www.CalistogaFlatTrack.com for the announcement of the 2011 schedule which should be coming soon. A quick look at the tentative schedule shows multiple West Coast GNC races (that will really happen) with the return of one of NorCal’s legendary GNC events! AMA Pro Racing After a meeting last month in Daytona with AMA Pro Racing management, staff and some team owners and other promoters, I am convinced that Flat Track racing is on its way back in a big way. With the leadership exhibited by the AMA Pro Racing management and with the quality staff who will be focused on the sport of Flat Track racing, this is the first time in my 40 years of involvement with the sport—as a racer, sponsor and promoter—that I feel Flat Track will be getting the attention it deserves. With the resurgence of Flat Track racing and with multiple brands winning races, the timing could not have been better. But no matter how good all of the above is, Pro racing does not exist without the race fans. Your phenomenal support of the 2010 Calistoga Half Mile National is greatly appreciated. We are working to make 2011 even better! See ya’ at the races! Considering a trip down to Phoenix, for some mid-winter riding... now that I am officially un-employed again... anyone down there can house a car and trailer a few weeks let me know... 12 inches of ice and snow up here... Charlotte |

I may get a chance to come down next month to visit some friends in Tucson. Looking at the map I could stop by Clifton & ride 191 up to Alpine & back. What are the chances the weather would be agreeable up there that time of year? I was looking at the 30day forecast and it didn't look too bad considering it would be late Dec. into Jan. I hope I can finagle it and bring the DR too and ride some of the trails in that area. How advisable would it be to do that alone? I know it can be unsafe, especially since I fell and broke my ankle last spring while riding in Utah. |

We will be in Scottsdale between Christmas and New Years and we WILL be riding! (the Uly is in the garage and is anxious to go) I am stoked to go for a ride on New years Day!! It is very rare to get even a short ride in this time of year up here. |

Larry, I'll be in on the 24th, and heading back on the 27th. doesn't look like we'll be able to hook up, maybe next time? Mike, 191 has the potential to strand you in the winter time with surprise snow storms. It's up there in elevation, the latest I've been up there is mid December, and the earliest I've gone is April. the road does get shutdown eventually in the winter, due to the amount of snow. If you go alone, get yourself one of those "spot" locaters, it will transmit your GPS location to any number you program it to, in addition to police and rescue... |

Buell sighting, I-10 WB just south of Chandler today at about 2:30. It was an amazon green S3... I'll be working in Sacaton until Friday, headed to CA to visit some family Friday night, but will be back again January 4th... Bart, definitely need to meet up this time, maybe you, me and Charlie could grab dinner at some point. |

Tell me about it....One time we were driving to Phoenix over Christmas to visit the inlaws. I heard on the CB (yep, it was a few years ago) that there was a snowstorm coming across and they were shutting I-40 down at Flagstaff. I looked at my map (in the dark) and saw a nice road down through Show Low that came in the East side of Phoenix. It started snowing and it was so hard I could hear the flakes thunking on the windshield. I had to stop twice to scrape the snow out of the recessed headlights, it was at night too. The raod was just wet until we got to the top of a pass and there it became snow covered and when we started to go down I realized maybe it would be best to sit it out until morning. In the morning it was a beautiful drive down into the valley. I decided to drive back out that way to go home and as we were driving throught the Salt River Canyon I commented to my wife that I couldn't believe I drove that road in a snowstorm. Next time I'm going to look at the map a little closer before I just take off on a road. |

I spent Monday through Wednesday night in Chicago for work. Each morning the temps were in the single digits, yesterday was 3 degrees at 8 AM. Glad to be back home, I rode the S1 to work this morning and got soaked (no rain gear) driving home this afternoon. I was laughing the whole time. But I do hate the painted stripes on wet days. Tom |
